Great Question is the all-in-one customer research platform for understanding your customers. Run interviews, surveys, and prototype tests while using AI to analyze it all in one place.
We’re a well-funded, seed-stage startup backed by Y Combinator and Funders Club, working with some of the most innovative companies in the world like Gusto, Experian, Canva & Brex.
We’re post product-market-fit but pre-Series A: the perfect time for an ambitious operator to join a fast growth startup.
As a Lead Product Designer at Great Question, you will play a pivotal role in leading the design of comprehensive product areas. The work will include a balance of tactical improvements to existing experiences, larger re-designs of existing experiences, and designs for net new capabilities.
This role requires a deep understanding of user experience principles, design taste, product sense, research aptitude, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to deliver elegant and effective solutions to customer problems that drive our business forward.

Lead large product areas
You’ll be responsible for large product areas that you can focus on over a stretch of time, becoming a subject matter expert and thought partner to product + engineering.
Ship designs regularly
Our company is constantly trying to strike the right balance of high quality designs delivered with velocity. You’ll be expected to ship solutions to customer problems regularly while simultaneously thinking holistically about the design as a system.
Dogfood the product you design
We’re building a research tool for researchers, designers and product managers. Use our tool to conduct your own research to inform your designs.
Help shape the design culture
You’ll be the 4th designer on the team, with a unique opportunity to help shape the design culture and rituals in the early days.
Help shape and influence the product strategy
Product Designers at Great Question are able and expected to be impacting product strategy as well as helping shape the product work. You’re not just given a set of requirements to design – you’re helping or leading the definition of those requirements.Â
Work where Design is highly valued and baked into operations
Product strategy and shaping discussions include leaders from Design alongside Engineering, Product and Founders (CEO / CTO).Â
Design has an equal voice and you’ll never have to “sell the value” of design to leadership.
In fact, 2 of the earliest hires at the company were 2 designers (employee #2 and #4), indicating how much the Founders value design.
Collaborate with Sales and Success to discover customer needs
Designers at Great Question are often asked to provide artifacts (e.g. a prototype) or help improve designs of sales enablement tools. This puts us in a unique position to assist the sales process in closing a deal, or assist the success process in keeping a customer happy or driving expansion.
