Lead Java Engineer (Remote, US or South America Based)

In this role, you will lead and collaborate with software engineers to design, develop, and enhance enterprise Java applications that drive database DevOps innovation. You will contribute to the architecture and delivery of critical features while mentoring peers and fostering technical excellence across the team. Working in an agile, fast-paced environment, you will help implement test-driven development practices, ensure high-quality code, and optimize system performance. The position emphasizes both hands-on coding and technical leadership, providing the opportunity to shape product direction and solve challenging problems. You will collaborate closely with QA, DevOps, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure reliable and scalable solutions. This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of Core Java, and a passion for continuous learning and improvement.

Accountabilities:
• Lead development of enterprise Java applications, ensuring delivery of new capabilities within agile sprints.
• Conduct technical design reviews and provide input on architecture, frameworks, and coding standards.
• Mentor and pair-program with junior and senior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices.
• Build unit, integration, and automated tests to support test-driven development (TDD).
• Collaborate with QA and DevOps teams to address issues, optimize CI/CD pipelines, and maintain high-quality software.
• Participate in code reviews, retrospectives, and end-of-sprint demos to ensure continuous improvement.
• Contribute to internal infrastructure and process enhancements, supporting team efficiency and product scalability.

Requirements

 • 8+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Proven experience as a technical lead or senior engineer, capable of architecting and delivering solutions independently.
• Deep understanding of Core Java and object-oriented design principles.
• Proficiency with Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JDBC, and RESTful Web Services.
• Experience with CI/CD methodologies and tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Skilled in testing frameworks such as JUnit, Spock, Mockito, and Cucumber.
• Comfortable working in both Windows and Linux environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills, collaboration abilities, and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bonus: Experience with Docker, AWS or Azure, and working in a remote-first, agile environment.
