Overview:
The Key Account Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with key clients. The role involves understanding the client's needs, providing tailored solutions, and ensuring the successful delivery of products or services to increase client retention and business growth. The KAM will collaborate with internal teams, including product, sales, and support, to meet the client’s needs and ensure long-term satisfaction. Additionally, this role will have specific responsibility for managing strategic relationships with the major card brands. The KAM will serve as a trusted partner to card brand risk and compliance teams, deepening collaboration across the payments ecosystem and ensuring alignment on risk management initiatives.
What You'll Do:
- Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the main point of contact for key accounts and foster long-term partnerships.
- Independently understand client goals, challenges, and industry trends to provide relevant solutions.
- Regularly meet with key clients to assess satisfaction and identify opportunities for growth.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with card brand stakeholders, including risk, compliance, and business development teams.
- Account Growth:
- Independently develop and execute account strategies to meet revenue and growth objectives.
- Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities to expand the product or service portfolio within the account.
- Act as the primary relationship manager for card brands, driving strategic initiatives and collaboration to support mutual growth.
- Client Success:
- Ensure the successful delivery of products or services, working closely with the Customer Success and technical product teams to meet client expectations.
- Monitor key metrics such as customer satisfaction and account growth.
- Proactively resolve any issues, acting as an escalation point to ensure swift resolution.
- Project Coordination:
- Manage the implementation of new services and products, coordinating between the client and internal teams.
- Ensure alignment between client needs and product development or service delivery teams.
- Negotiation and Contract Management:
- Lead contract negotiations with key clients, ensuring mutually beneficial terms.
- Ensure that contracts are renewed in a timely manner and address any client concerns during the negotiation process.
- Reporting and Forecasting:
- Maintain up-to-date account plans and provide regular reports to senior management on key account performance.
- Forecast revenue and growth opportunities for key accounts.
- Market and Industry Insight:
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitive products, and market conditions to offer informed advice to clients.
- Attend relevant industry events and conferences to network and build relationships.
- Leverage deep knowledge of the global payments landscape to anticipate industry shifts, regulatory changes, and risk-related developments.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, IT, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in account management, preferably within a tech, fintech or software company.
- Strong understanding of SaaS, cloud computing, or other relevant tech industry sectors.
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients and meet aggressive growth targets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments, including technical, sales, and support teams.
- Strong analytical skills to independently forecast trends and interpret data for strategic decision-making.
- Experience managing enterprise-level clients or large accounts with complex needs.
- Experience with global or remote teams and customers.
- Proven experience managing relationships with major card brands.
- Established network of contacts within card brand risk and compliance teams.
- Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, including acquiring, issuing, and risk management frameworks.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of time.
