The Item Setup Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for the creation, accuracy, governance, and lifecycle management of all item master data within the company’s ERP and related systems. This role ensures item data integrity across manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, finance, and quality functions to support effective planning, costing, compliance, and operational execution. The manager acts as the central coordinator between cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and smooth product launch.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end item setup process for new products, revisions, and changes in the ERP system.
  • Maintain accurate and complete master data, including item attributes, units of measure, BOMs, HTS codes, routings, costing, and compliance information for raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods, and MROs.
  • Establish and enforce data governance standards, naming conventions, and documentation requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy and identify gaps or inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, procurement, planning, sales, and quality teams to gather required item information.
  • Ensure timely setup of items to support product launches, engineering changes, and customer requests.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for item-related questions and issue resolution.
  • Develop and refine item setup workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Identify opportunities to automate or streamline data entry and validation.
  • Support ERP upgrades, system enhancements, and data migration projects.
  • Ensure item data meets regulatory, customer, and internal compliance requirements.
  • Maintain documentation for item setup procedures, data standards, and change control processes.
  • Generate reports on item setup status, data quality metrics, and process performance.
  • Monitor KPIs such as setup cycle time, error rates, and data completeness.
  • Provide insights to leadership on trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills &Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, BOM structures, routings, and product lifecycle management.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong data quality mindsight.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of data governance and change management practices.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, master data management, or ERP administration.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, or similar.
  • Prior experience in process implementation and managing item master data strongly preferred.

 

Physical Demands

The work environment will be a mix of a typical office environment, a manufacturing floor and a construction site.   Noise level: Normal office, manufacturing and construction noises.
