About the Role
April is looking for a IT & Security Admin to serve as the technical backbone of april's infrastructure and internal systems. In this role, you'll wear multiple hats—managing our cloud infrastructure on GCP, ensuring SOC2 compliance, and providing the IT support that keeps our team running smoothly.
This is a unique opportunity to have broad ownership across infrastructure, security, and operations while working closely with our team lead to scale systems that power tax intelligence for thousands of users. Team members residing within the New York City metropolitan area must maintain a minimum on-site presence of three days per week. This is a temporary, full-time role working from December 2025 to March 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and co-own (trained by team lead) april’s cloud (GCP) infrastructure
Workstation IT management (STIG, MDM, Azure, Google Workspaces, etc, including equipment purchases)
Manage and improve internal IT systems, including user access, hardware, and software troubleshooting.
Own SOC2 Compliance processes & relevant security infrastructure
Support security best practices by applying patches and updates to systems.
On-demand IT support from internal / external users
Maintain documentation for infrastructure, processes, and procedures
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines
Automate system provisioning and configuration using Terraform
Monitor system performance, scale and health, and troubleshoot issues related to servers, applications, and networks
Collaborate with development teams to optimize deployments and improve system reliability
Experience
2+ years of experience in IT positions
1+ years of experience in DevOps / SRE positions
Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP or AWS)
Basic knowledge in IT management (MacOS, Windows, MDM)
Familiarity and basic experience with scripting languages (Bash, Python)
Familiarity and basic experience with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
Understanding of Linux and Windows system administration
Basic networking and networking protocol knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, Firewalls, HTTP(s), RPC)
Experience with version control systems such as Git
Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Experience with logging and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
Experience with gRPC
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
