International Tax Director
Parsons is looking for an International Tax Director to join our team! In this role you will provide advice and counsel on international tax issues with the goal of minimizing Parsons’ worldwide tax burden. You will report to the Vice President, Global Tax and manage all aspects of corporate international taxation, including all cross-border risk assessments, transfer pricing and BEPS studies, and provide documentation and coordination and/or support for all International tax audits. You will lead a team of international tax specialists. You will also be responsible for the international tax aspects of the tax provision for financial reporting purposes.  And you will oversee the preparation and review of the international aspects of the U.S. Federal return, non-U.S. income tax filings, and miscellaneous international tax returns and reports.Â
This candidate will enjoy a hybrid work arrangement in the Chantilly, Virginia area.
What You’ll Be Doing
Identify international cross-border tax issues and potential impact on Parsons.Â
Research effects of international transactions / foreign projects and determine and document (via Project Tax Memos) the US and foreign country tax risks and impacts
Proactively design and evaluate tax planning and structuring ideas to determine impacts to the worldwide tax provision and tax returns and ensure implemented positions are properly documented
Work with and render tax advice to Parsons’ Accounting, Treasury, Legal, Contracts, Business Development and Talent Management teams on international projects and initiatives
Oversee and review the foreign income tax compliance in coordination with local finance managers and local tax advisors, including preparing or reviewing transfer pricing documentation
Lead tax diligence and advise on tax consequences of proposed business expansions, acquisitions, and divestitures
Engage and work with Parsons’ U.S. tax compliance team and provide support and guidance regarding US international tax calculations and analysis including E&P, Subpart F inclusion, GILTI, FDII, BEAT and FTC limitation
Oversee the international aspects of the income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740 and FIN 48 (ASC 740-10) for financial statement purposes and review the quarterly and year-end international tax provision audit work papers
Provide international internal control documentation required by Sarbanes-Oxley
Coordinate with and support local finance managers and local tax advisors regarding international income tax audits, including responding to tax notices and protests
Oversee the BEPS studies and update the Master File and draft/update Local Files to meet the documentation requirements
Lead transfer pricing studies and ensure cross border transactions are properly documented including intercompany agreements
Collaborate with VP of Global Tax on global tax strategies and planning
Monitor tax legislation and effectively communicate relevant international developments to the tax compliance team and VP of Global Tax
What Required Skills You’ll Bring
4-year degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
15+ years of progressive income tax experience with international aspects of U.S. Federal and non-U.S. income taxes for multinational corporations
Experience in the Engineering & Construction industry preferred, service industry experience required
Excellent knowledge of federal income taxation of international transactions
Experience with Status of Forces Agreements and other Defense Bilateral Agreements
Knowledge and experience with ASC 740 accounting for income taxes including FIN48 (ASC 740-10) and good understanding of SOX 404
Able to analyze and review U.S. and non-U.S. statutes, regulations, case law and other materials to make appropriate recommendations
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor staff
Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise reports and correspondence
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring
Experience in a U.S. multi-national company preferred
Experience with taxation in the Middle East and Europe is desirable
Experience with ONESOURCE
MBT, JD, LLM desirable
CPA preferred
