About the role

The Installation Technician, Special Projects, specializes in the deployment and setup of cinema-based projectors, audio systems, DVLED, and PLF (Premium Large Format) systems. This role focuses on executing high-quality installations for customers, ensuring seamless integration and operation. The position demands extensive travel.

What you'll do

  • Perform professional installations of cinema projectors, audio systems, digital signage, control systems, pro a/v, DVLED systems, museum and interactive rides, etc.
  • Integrate proprietary control systems for audio-visual environments ex. QSYS, Crestron, etc. (preferred experience)
  • Conduct pre-installation site surveys, staging equipment, and post-installation testing and commissioning
  • Safely work at heights using scaffolding, ladders, lifts, and other elevated access equipment
  • Collaborate with project teams to execute installation timelines and quality standards
  • Test electronic assemblies, components, and systems using tools such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, and automated test equipment
  • Resolve basic firmware and software configuration issues during installation
  • Document installation activities daily, including work descriptions, expenses, hours, labor, and travel
  • Complete customer training and provide clear handover documentation and basic customer orientation on installed systems
  • Willing to take ownership and take on other duties as assigned


This position requires 75%+ travel (domestic and potentially international), depending on project demands. The role also requires availability for weekends, holidays, and on-call support as needed.

Qualifications

To perform this role successfully, the Installation Technician, Special Projects must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, education, and overall experience required for the role. 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred
  • 5+ years’ hands-on experience in AV installations, with required experience in cinema projection and audio systems
  • Experience with Q-SYS platforms and other AV control systems, preferred
  • Must be comfortable working at heights using scaffolding, ladders, and lifts
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs repeatedly
  • Must be able to sit, stand, climb, push, pull, bend, and kneel for extended periods
  • This position requires a valid, state-issued driver’s license, and reliable transportation for local work as needed
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Self-starter able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service
  • Experience with digital cinema equipment, strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Windows operating systems, and basic networking
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload with minimal supervision
  • Flexible and adaptable to unfamiliar sites and situations
  • Physically fit for demanding fieldwork in various environments
  • Comfortable working in a high-stress, face-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to successfully interface with a wide range of personnel within the organization
