Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Independent Sales Consultant with deep roots in the music industry to support the growth of music campaigns and partnerships. This is a performance-based consulting engagement for a self-directed, results-driven individual who can bring in strategic business independently. The ideal consultant operates like a closer—not a clock-watcher—and thrives on turning their network and insights into six-figure wins.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in music account management or sales, with a proven track record of sourcing and closing high-value deals. A passion for digital media, short-form content, influencer strategy, and how these channels drive fan engagement and streaming growth is critical to success.
The consultant will operate independently and may provide services that include prospecting, pitching, and negotiating campaign deals with major labels, independent labels, artist managers, and direct-to-artist clients. They are expected to bring their own relationships, strategies, and work methods to the engagement.
Scope of Work
This independent contractor will provide sales consulting services, including but not limited to:
Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Source and close high-value music partnership deals on behalf of the company, with a target of generating $1M+ in annual revenue.
- Create and execute your own outreach and prospecting strategy—no micromanaging, no hand-holding.
- Negotiate deal terms independently while aligning deliverables with company offerings.
- Focus on deal margin and profitability as much as topline revenue.
Industry Relationships
- Leverage your pre-existing network (labels, artist managers, A&Rs) to independently identify and engage prospects.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to clients throughout the campaign lifecycle—from ideation to activation.
- Represent the company in external meetings and discussions, acting as a trusted industry expert and connector.
Cross-Functional Collaboration (as Needed)
- Interface with internal teams (strategy, creative, influencer, and media) only to the extent needed to support deal execution.
- Clearly communicate scoped deliverables, ensuring client expectations are aligned with company capabilities.
- Provide insights on market shifts, client feedback, and product positioning as part of ongoing collaboration.
Consultant Profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in music industry sales, brand partnerships, or artist marketing.
- Demonstrated ability to independently close mid- to high-six-figure deals.
- Existing relationships with label teams, A&Rs, artists, and managers are a must.
- Strong grasp of TikTok, influencer culture, and digital-first music marketing.
- Skilled communicator and negotiator with C-level poise.
- Operates autonomously, executes efficiently, and thrives in a commission-driven structure.
Engagement Details
- This is a 1099 contractor engagement. The consultant sets their own hours, determines their own methods, and is responsible for their own tools and expenses.
- The consultant will receive a fixed monthly retainer of $6,000 for availability and strategic services, in addition to commission and performance-based incentives.
- The company does not provide benefits, supervision, or ongoing training—this is a results-driven engagement for a proven operator.
