- This role reports to the CFO and serves as a key partner in delivering high-quality People Operations support across a multi-state workforce within a consulting environment. This position partners closely with employees and leadership to drive an exceptional employee experience while ensuring compliance with state and federal employment laws.
- The HR Generalist is responsible for core HR functions including employee relations, benefits administration, full cycle recruiting, compliance, and HR Operations. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable managing processes and building relationships, with a strong sense of ownership and a passion for continuous improvement.

What you'll do
People Operations & Employee Experience
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers, supporting day to day HR needs and fostering a positive inclusive workplace culture
- Lead onboarding and orientation to ensure new hires feel welcomed, prepared, and connected from day one.
- Support employee relations matters with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Prepare personnel correspondence including employment verifications and employee communications.
- Manage employee separations, including documentation and internal communications.
- Manage employee leave of absence programs (e.g., FMLA, medical, personal), including employee communication, documentation, and coordination with managers and external partners as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up to date employee records, files, and HR systems.
Benefits & Compensation Administration
- Manage and administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment, billing reconciliation, COBRA administration, and employee support, in partnership with external vendors
- Stay current on benefits trends, compliance requirements, and market offerings; proactively recommend improvements or new vendors as needed.
- Lead annual open enrollment, including communication strategy and employee education.
- Administer 401(k) programs including enrollments, testing, loans, and coordination with financial advisors.
- Support compensation-related processes such as stock option grant administration and reporting.
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition
- Own and drive full-cycle recruiting across departments, including:
- Partnering with hiring managers to define role requirements and hiring strategies
- Drafting and posting job descriptions aligned with company culture and goals
- Sourcing candidates through job boards, LinkedIn, referrals, and other channels
- Screening resumes and conducting initial candidate interviews
- Coordinating and facilitating interview processes
- Managing candidate experience from first touchpoint through offer stage
- Build and maintain a strong candidate pipeline for current and future hiring needs.
- Represent Motive Power at job fairs, networking events, and other recruiting initiatives.
- Continuously improve recruiting processes, tools, and employer branding efforts.
- Partner with leadership and Resource Management to support workforce planning and hiring forecasts.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Coordinate with external HR partners to stay current on employment law and compliance requirements.
- Support affirmative action planning, EEO reporting, and non-discrimination testing.
- Act as liaison between HR and payroll; serve as backup for payroll processing.
- Create and maintain HR reports and dashboards (e.g., headcount, turnover, promotions, etc.), and surface insights to support decision-making
- Act as the HR business subject matter expert for HR tools and systems.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Lead or support HR initiatives such as policy updates, systems improvements, and employee programs.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency across HR functions.
- Contribute to building scalable HR practices that support company growth.

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust across all levels of the organization
- Sound judgment and ability to remain objective and fair
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; proficiency in Word and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- 5+ years of human resources experience
- Experience with full-cycle recruiting and talent acquisition strategies
- Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems
- Exposure to benefits administration and compliance
- HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus

The anticipated wage range for this position is $100,000-$200,000 per year based on relevant factors such as experience, education, location, and qualification. In addition to base pay, Motive Power offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, $2,500 towards a fully electric EV, plus more.
