The Serve fleet has been delighting merchants, customers, and pedestrians along the way in Los Angeles while doing commercial deliveries. We’re looking for talented individuals who will grow robotic deliveries from surprising novelty to efficient ubiquity.

Role Overview
At Serve safety is non-negotiable. We are looking for a [VP/Director of Safety] to help our company scale by working cross functionally amongst our teams and building internal tools and processes to ensure the safety of our team and the safe operation of our robots.
Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive safety strategies for our delivery operations, including our autonomous vehicle systems, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and establishing industry’s best practices.
Lead safety assessments, audits, and inspections, and overseeing risk management processes.
Define and articulate the company's safety vision and strategy, ensuring it aligns with internal and external requirements and industry best practices.
Build and manage a team addressing various needs, including Trust & Safety.
Work cross-functionally with engineering, product and operations leads and the safety committee to address safety needs as they arise.
Oversee and manage safety-related projects including a structured testing program and facilities, and ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Communicate the company's safety strategy and vision to partners, regulators, industry bodies, and the public.
Develop and implement safety training programs for employees and stakeholders.
Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications
BS Degree in Computer Science, engineering, or related field with at least 8+ years of experience in the Automotive, Transportation, Aerospace, Robotics or other safety-focused or regulated industries
Deep technical expertise in safety engineering, preferably in a high-tech environment with experience in autonomous technology
Excellent communication skills to articulate safety strategies and engage with partners, regulators, and stakeholders
Ability to identify and solve complex safety problems
Hands-on skills of working with data analysis
Experience with and understanding of risk and reliability functions
