We are looking for a Head of People Operations to lead two high-impact initiatives:

  1. Launch and grow a new People Ops & HR service line for Graphite clients.
  2. Lead internal People Ops at Graphite 

The Head of People Operations will focus on building a business unit from the ground up – researching the market, developing the service portfolio, building a pricing model, working closely with the GTM team to develop positioning, and ultimately standing up the teams, technology, and processes to deliver these services to our clients. Graphite will be your first client – a testing ground for your ideas and an opportunity to level up our current programs. This is a P&L ownership role with a mandate to build something special.  This role reports to the COO and CSO.

Please note this is a fully remote role with coworking spaces in Orlando, FL, NYC, and Austin, TX

Key Responsibilities:

1. Build & Lead a Client-Facing People Operations Business Unit (70%)

  • Research the current competitive space for people operations and HR advisory to identify the full breadth of services offered, pricing programs, service delivery models, end-market targets, and overall positioning
  • Define day-one service offerings alongside a vision for 12-24 months 
  • Build pricing models that are competitive, scalable and aligned with margin goals
  • Work with our GTM team to identify the ICP, develop market positioning, build sales assets, structure talk tracks, and leverage our existing omni-channel strategy to drive awareness and build demand Develop the service model and resource plan – team structure, technology and process – needed to deliver exceptional service quality to our clients
  • Drive P&L performance by accelerating new revenue, managing thoughtful service expansion, and focusing closely on project-level profitability
  • Foster a team culture that aligns with Graphite’s corporate values and promotes collaboration
  • Partner with other Business Unit leaders to strategically position all of Graphite’s services into a holistic framework for our clients. 

2. Lead Graphite’s Internal People Operations (30%)

  • People Strategy: Build and execute a strategic people operations roadmap aligned with business goals and company culture
  • Administration of Graphite’s HR platform: Own HRIS and drive efficiency and optimization — everything from onboarding workflows and payroll to integrations and compliance tracking 
  • Global Hiring: Lead our offshore hiring strategy. This includes working with EORs, understanding regional employment laws, and building a local talent pipeline
  • Talent Acquisition: Partner with department heads to forecast hiring needs and lead full-cycle recruiting processes, assisting hiring managers as required 
  • Benefits Management: Manage annual renewal process of Graphite’s HR platform and benefit offerings to ensure that Graphite continues to stand up and invest in a competitive benefit programs to support our growing team
  • Onboarding & Offboarding: Design scalable, high-touch onboarding and offboarding experiences across geographies
  • Culture & Engagement: Drive initiatives that foster engagement, feedback, and professional development across the org
  • Compliance & Policy: Maintain and scale company policies in accordance with local labor laws — U.S. and international while ensuring the organization's policies align with the requirements of SOC 2 compliance, focused on data security and privacy.
  • Performance & Development: Oversee performance review cycles, career pathing, and manager training programs

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive HR/People Operations experience, ideally in a high-growth environment
  • 5+ years experience leading teams in HR/People Operations
  • Experience with remote-first or hybrid work models
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law + willingness and ability to learn offshore labor laws where necessary
  • Confident and polished presenter who communicates across all levels
  • Exceptional analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate with a virtual team
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Aligned as a partner with client teams and comfortable with ambiguity in order to develop work product to meet the needs of multiple clients
  • High EQ, low ego — you're strategic, but not afraid to get into the weeds

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in professional services or accounting firms. 
  • SHRM, PHR, or similar certification
  • Experience owning business performance metrics that reflect growth against initiatives
  • Familiarity with SOC 2 Type 2 organization and assisting in annual audits
  • Hands-on experience with Rippling and other similar HR platforms
  • Demonstrated success with offshore hiring  including working with EORs and building local HR processes
