Job Description:

Location is flexible – opportunity to work remotely (preference for Midwest talent)

The Digital Media Senior Director (Retail Media Monetization) will be the go-to expert for growing Retail Media Network (RMN) engagements at New Stream Media. Reporting to the VP, you will collaborate with senior colleagues at dentsu and work directly with senior leaders at RMN clients to guide profitable innovation. You will lead monetization strategies, develop go-to-market plans, and contribute to New Stream Media's product and solution development. We're looking for someone with deep experience in RMNs, eRetail, or CPG, and expertise in leading both direct and matrixed teams.

New Stream Media is dentsu's specialty retail media practice that is purpose-built for retailers managing retail media network (RMN) businesses. We are a services-based business that provides our RMN clients with teams in media sales, account management, media planning and activation, audience strategy and analytics, creative, and billing. We are flexible in our operating models with clients – staffing embedded in-house teams and in strategic consultation. We are end-to-end experts from consulting through to activation and have been doing this work at scale longer than any other agency partner.

You Will:

  • Develop market strategies for eRetail channels, using B2B2C dynamics within retail media.
  • Create and manage monetization tools for RMN clients, including rate cards, margin tracking, and forecasting.
  • Create strategic roadmaps and test plans, ensuring a smooth execution across teams.
  • Translate client and leadership goals into relevant tactics for eRetail channels.
  • Produce client-facing materials (e.g., presentations, POVs, business cases, playbooks) that showcase eRetail expertise.
  • Collaborate with RMN client teams to assess needs, analyze performance, and guide long-term relationships.
  • Lead Managers/Analysts, overseeing task execution and performance feedback to support team growth.
  • Monitor industry trends in digital marketing and retail media, sharing important insights with our teams.
  • Support growth and sales efforts for New Stream Media, identifying new business opportunities.
  • Consult with our teams to implement best practices and brainstorm new strategies for client success.
  • Ensure excellence in Campaign Management, Planning & Optimization across client/media programs.
  • Deliver consultative messaging to senior leadership, both in writing and in presentations.

You Have:

  • 10+ years of experience in digital media, with a focus on eRetail, RMNs, or CPG (preference for agency or ad tech platform environment experience).
  • Experience with eRetail channels (i.e., retail, content, media, and platform dynamics) and in-platform experience (e.g., Walmart Connect, Target Roundel, Criteo, Instacart).
  • Experience with Paid Social platforms (e.g., Facebook/Instagram Power Editor, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, LinkedIn Ads), digital ad serving platforms (e.g., DCM, GAM), and DSPs (e.g., Google DV360, MediaMath, Amazon DSP, Verizon/Oath, TTD).
  • Experience with diverse media buying strategies, including self-service, managed buying, and partner negotiations.
  • Experience with data analysis, driving insights, and providing applicable recommendations.
  • Experience translating strategic goals into relevant plans and guiding team deliverables.
  • Client management and consultative selling skills, with experience engaging and presenting at the executive level.
  • People management experience, including hiring, resource management, and team development.
  • Collaborative mindset, focused on achieving team and client success while building partnerships.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (complex functions) and PowerPoint (presentation creation).
  • Contributions to policy and best practices within the field.
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree
