If you’re the best at what you do, come work for Doma Technology.</h4><h4>About Us  </h4>Doma Technology LLC offers solutions for lenders, real estate professionals, title agents, and homeowners that make closings vastly simpler and more efficient, reducing cost and increasing customer satisfaction.<h4>Our Values</h4><ul><li>Obsessively Entrepreneurial - We encourage calculated risk-taking, and we know that some of our best learning happens by making mistakes along the way.</li><li>People First - We communicate with honesty and respect to our customers, colleagues, and partners.</li><li>Better Together - We believe diversity, equity and inclusion creates value through the differences in our backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.</li><li>Act with Integrity - We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards in all of our business practices.</li></ul></div>General Counsel Job Duties:   <ul><li>Serve as a trusted legal partner to the business, identifying and resolving legal issues, structuring third-party relationships, and helping teams move forward with a clear understanding of risk and tradeoffs. </li><li>Research, interpret, and advise on state regulatory requirements affecting the title insurance and mortgage industries, developing clear, practical guidance in complex or unfamiliar areas. </li><li>Support corporate development, financing, and other strategic transactions as they arise </li><li>Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including agreements for both the delivery and procurement of products and services. </li><li>Provide subject matter legal expertise on individual title matters, applying legal judgment to specific facts and circumstances to assess risk and determine practical paths forward. </li><li>Partner with Compliance leadership on matters requiring legal interpretation or judgment, including regulatory interactions and complex risk questions. </li><li>Manage the company's intellectual property portfolio </li><li>Select and manage outside counsel relationships across practice areas </li><li>Mentor and develop internal team members supporting contract review and other legal matters, helping build legal capability across the organization </li></ul>Required Qualifications: <ul><li>J.D. and active bar admission </li><li>Substantial experience advising businesses across commercial, regulatory, and general corporate matters, with a strong working knowledge of residential title and mortgage transactions. </li><li>Experience operating as a broad, hands-on business lawyer in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment, with the range and judgment to work across disciplines, navigate unfamiliar questions, and advise the business beyond a narrow legal specialty. </li><li>Demonstrated judgment in assessing risk and navigating ambiguity, with the ability to distinguish material concerns from manageable ones and recommend compliant, practical paths forward. </li><li>Prior experience in a fast paced, high growth or entrepreneurial company </li><li>Strong track record managing outside counsel relationships   </li></ul>Preferred Qualifications: <ul><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal topics to non legal audiences </li><li>Experience in mentoring and developing legal talent </li><li>Experience supporting M&A or financing transactions </li><li>Comfortable working remotely, with sufficient schedule flexibility to maintain meaningful overlap with colleagues located across the country. </li></ul> #LI-Remote<div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="description">Shown below is the lowest to highest base salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.  An employee’s pay position within the base salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.  At Doma, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.This job is also eligible for the following compensation components: Bonus & Equity</div><div class="title">The base salary range for this role is shown below:</div><div class="pay-range">$195,000—$240,000 USD</div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion"><h4>How we’ll value you and make your life a bit easier:</h4>We offer a comprehensive package of benefits to eligible employees (FTE, non-contract): medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), generous vacation time, and paid bonding leave.Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
