Field Sales Engineer – New England

Location: Must reside in Greater Boston

Territory: New England (MA, NH, VT, ME, RI, CT)

The Role

We’re looking for a Field Sales Engineer to grow Altera’s business in the New England region by leading our Manufacturer’s Representative (Rep) firms, expanding major account relationships, and driving strategic sales execution.

Key Responsibilities

Territory & Account Leadership

  • Manage and develop assigned Rep firms to maximize coverage, pipeline growth, and revenue.

  • Build and expand relationships at major accounts to uncover new opportunities and secure design wins.

  • Lead strategic sales motions with Rep firms and distributors to increase Altera’s market presence.

Sales Execution & Forecasting

  • Own regional sales targets across new opportunities, design wins, and revenue.

  • Maintain accurate Salesforce pipeline visibility and deliver reliable forecasting.

  • Collaborate with marketing, operations, and applications engineering to accelerate customer support and design-in success.

Customer Engagement

  • Represent Altera at customer meetings, technical discussions, and local industry events to strengthen our brand and influence in the region.

Salary Range 

The compensation below is reflective of a sales role that includes a salary + incentive. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor within the US market. Actual compensation may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc.

$181.1K - $262.2K USD 

We use artificial intelligence to screen, assess, or select applicants for the position. 

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field

  • 5+ years of technical sales experience

  • Residence in Greater Boston

  • Knowledge of the New England technology market

Preferred

  • Semiconductor sales experience (FPGAs, GPUs, CPUs, ASSPs, ASICs)

  • Experience working with Manufacturer’s Rep firms

  • Experience with major distributors (e.g., Arrow Electronics, Macnica)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
