This position offers an expert-level challenge in both the technical and operational aspects of fiber deployment, demanding a versatile, skilled individual who can independently support all phases of fiber deployment. The role is designed for someone eager to apply their deep technical expertise and leadership skills to ensure the delivery of Ting’s high-quality, reliable fiber network. </p><p>This is a non-remote role in Laguna Woods, CA with some travel required. </p><p><strong> </strong><strong>Job Duties</strong></p><ul><li>Act as the local field trainer for technicians, ensuring compliance with national training and safety standards.</li><li>Serve as the local safety subject matter expert, upholding and enhancing safety protocols in collaboration with national guidelines.</li><li>Collaborate with internal teams and contract labor effectively, stepping in as acting supervisor as needed to manage field coverage and technician support.</li><li>Perform advanced residential and commercial drops and installations, including enterprise-level projects requiring intricate networking and custom wiring solutions.</li><li>Lead by example in addressing customer escalations, applying problem-solving skills to maintain high customer satisfaction.</li><li>Mentor technicians on best practices for all aspects of fiber deployment, emphasizing safety, customer experience, quality, and efficiency.</li><li>Support OSP construction projects, including design interpretation & changes, mainline conduit & vault construction, aerial mainline construction, mainline fiber installation & splicing</li><li>Lead on-site quality assurance measures, including final testing and validation, to ensure network integrity and performance.</li><li>Support construction and maintenance efforts comprehensively, from single service drops, to aerial and underground work, to central office and cabinet builds.</li><li>Coordinate with contract labor and management, providing critical insights and feedback on installation progress and challenges.</li><li>Conduct site surveys and design estimations for MxU and OSP network expansion projects, ensuring accurate cost and resource planning.</li><li>Act as the subject matter expert for MxU installations, offering in-depth knowledge and support for specialized equipment and network solutions.</li></ul><p> <strong>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</strong></p><ul><li>Understanding of networking principles and the latest fiber technologies, including structured cabling, high count/mass fusion fiber splicing, and fiber testing methodologies.</li><li>Knowledge in design principles, with the ability to support from blueprint interpretation to physical construction, and troubleshooting during outages.</li><li>Proficient in aerial and underground civil construction processes, standards, and safety practices, including effective management of excavation notices (811 tickets) and ability to work in varying weather conditions.</li><li>Strong troubleshooting skills, especially in light level testing, continuity checks, and resolving connectivity issues, ensuring minimal downtime and high-quality service.</li><li>Effective communication and leadership abilities, with the expertise to manage vendor relationships, provide training and support to technicians, and report progress and challenges to management.</li><li>Adept at performing rigorous quality control measures, including splice testing and network performance assessments, to maintain and exceed service reliability standards.</li><li>Project coordination skills, capable of supporting multiple projects simultaneously, from pre-construction surveys to build acceptance, ensuring timely and high quality completion.<ul><li>Comprehensive understanding of all telecommunications industry safety protocols.</li><li>Proficient with a variety of software platforms and applications relevant to dispatching, construction project management, GIS, and documentation, including Google Suite and specialized telecommunications software.</li></ul></li><li>Ability to perform physical tasks associated with telecommunications work, including working in confined spaces, performing aerial work on ladders or in bucket trucks, and lifting up to 75 pounds safely.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications Required</strong></p><ul><li>4+ years of experience in telecommunications, with a focus on advanced fiber technician skills.</li><li>Experience supporting construction and service teams and vendors</li><li>Certifications are a plus, such as OSHA safety and compliance, PMP, CCNA, BICSI, or others relevant to the role.</li><li>This role may involve occasional travel to assist regional teams when additional support is needed.</li></ul><p>The base salary range for this position is $79,400 - $90,000. Range shown in $USD for US residents. Other countries will differ. Range may vary on a number of factors including, but not limited to: location, experience and qualifications.
