Job Summary:
The Epic Trainer for Billing Support Specialists is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive training programs focused on Epic billing workflows and best practices. This role is essential in ensuring that new and existing Billing Support Specialists are well-versed in the Epic system and can perform their duties efficiently and accurately. The trainer will work closely with the revenue cycle management team and other stakeholders to customize training materials and methodologies to meet the organization's needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training Program Development: Design and develop training materials, including manuals, job aids, e-learning modules, and other resources that cater to the needs of Epic Billing Support Specialists.
- Instructional Delivery: Conduct live, virtual, and on-demand training sessions for new hires and existing staff, focusing on Epic billing workflows, claims processing, payment collections, reimbursement management, and related functions.
- Hands-on Training: Provide practical, hands-on training to Billing Support Specialists, using real-world scenarios and case studies to reinforce learning and ensure proficiency in the Epic system.
- Curriculum Customization: Tailor training programs to address the specific needs of the Billing Support Specialists, taking into account their varying levels of experience and familiarity with the Epic system.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and administer assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and the competency of trainees. Provide feedback to participants and adjust training content as necessary to improve outcomes.
- Ongoing Support: Offer continued support and refresher training to Billing Support Specialists as needed, ensuring they stay up-to-date with changes in the Epic system and industry best practices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the revenue cycle management team, IT, and other stakeholders to stay informed about system updates, changes in billing regulations, and other factors that may impact training content.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of training sessions, participant progress, and assessment results. Ensure that all training materials are up-to-date and aligned with current organizational and industry standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and update training programs to reflect changes in the Epic system, billing practices, and organizational needs. Seek feedback from trainees and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, education, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Epic trainer or in a similar training role, with a focus on billing and revenue cycle management. Experience with the Epic EHR system is required.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of the Epic EHR system, specifically in billing and claims modules. Proficiency in using training tools and software, including e-learning platforms and virtual training environments.
- Training Skills: Strong instructional design and delivery skills, with the ability to engage and motivate trainees. Experience in creating and delivering both in-person and virtual training programs.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to assess trainee performance and program effectiveness. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build rapport with trainees and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Certifications: Epic certification in relevant modules (e.g., EpicCare Ambulatory, Resolute Professional Billing) is highly desirable. Instructional design certifications are a plus.
