This role provides the opportunity to lead and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on risk management and operational security. You will drive impact by shaping technical strategy, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the platform remains secure and resilient in a rapidly changing environment. Collaborating closely with product, data, and engineering teams, you will oversee the development of innovative solutions to mitigate payment, content, and account risks. This position blends hands-on technical leadership with team management, empowering you to influence both architecture and organizational culture while fostering career growth for your team. Accountabilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering technical excellence, collaboration, and career development.
  • Oversee design and architectural decisions for risk-related platform components, including content moderation, fraud detection, and account security.
  • Collaborate with product, data, and cross-functional teams to develop innovative risk mitigation strategies.
  • Promote a sustainable, healthy, and inclusive work environment, emphasizing creativity, problem-solving, and high-quality delivery.
  • Ensure engineering solutions are resilient, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Advocate for the adoption of AI/ML technologies, rapid prototyping, and experimentation within risk systems.
  • Manage remote and distributed teams effectively, maintaining high communication and coordination standards.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of engineering leadership experience and 3+ years of technical experience building web products.
  • Proven ability to grow and lead diverse, high-functioning technical teams through coaching, training, and mentorship.
  • Strong technical background, with experience in AI/ML, rapid prototyping, and experimentation.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies (preferably AWS) and DevOps practices for autonomous team ownership of mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
  • Comfortable driving teams in fast-paced, experimental, and agile environments.
  • Bonus: Experience with content moderation, fraud detection, distributed teams, live events, or global cross-team collaboration.
