This is a pure people-management role - not a player-coach position. Your success is measured by your team's delivery and growth, not your own code output. You'll own work assignment, unblocking, and delivery tracking across in-house and partner engineers, act as the technical arm of our product team, and operate as the number two to our head of engineering.Our Stack<div class="s18">• Languages: TypeScript, Python</div><div class="s18">• Databases: Postgres, ClickHouse</div><div class="s18">• Infrastructure: Azure, event-driven architecture</div><div class="s18">• Delivery: Linear, Kanban-style flow</div>Responsibilities<div class="s18">• Manage the day-to-day work of engineers across internal and partner team -assigning work, unblocking, and tracking delivery</div><div class="s18">• Own the ticket assignment process in Linear: route clear work directly, keep the queue stocked with fully scoped tickets, and escalate larger project fit to engineering leadership</div><div class="s18">• Act as the technical arm of the product team: take product direction from PMs, shape technical direction with engineers, and sign off before work begins</div><div class="s18">• Balance workloads to individual capacity and working styles, including engineers working across timezones</div><div class="s18">• Run 1:1s, give performance feedback, and build growth plans for your engineers</div><div class="s18">• Coordinate delivery across separate teams while managing shared workstreams like bug fixes</div><div class="s18">• Partner with engineering leadership on hiring, process, and team structure</div><div class="s18">• Champion spec-driven development and AI-assisted engineering practices across the team</div><div class="s20">• *The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.</div>Qualifications<div class="s18">• 6+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years directly managing engineers</div><div class="s18">• A deliberate choice of the management track—you find your leverage in people, process, and clarity</div><div class="s18">• Experience managing distributed teams, including offshore or partner/vendor engineers across timezones</div><div class="s18">• Enough technical depth to pressure-test technical direction and sign off on scoping in a TypeScript/Python stack</div><div class="s18">• Fluency with modern delivery tooling (Linear or similar) and Kanban-style flow</div><div class="s18">• A strong track record partnering with product managers to turn requirements into well-scoped, buildable work</div><div class="s18">• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and how they change team workflows</div><div class="s18">• Excellent written communication—your tickets, feedback, and updates create clarity</div><div class="s18">• Bonus:</div><div class="s22">o Prop tech or real estate background</div><div class="s22">o Experience managing a mix of in-house and agency/vendor teams</div><div class="s22">o Prior experience as a tech lead before moving into management</div>Skills<div class="s18">• A people manager by choice - you get energy from unblocking others, not from being the hero contributor</div><div class="s18">• Calm and organized - nothing falls through the cracks on your watch</div><div class="s18">• High agency - you don't wait for permission or detailed instructions; you figure things out and drive forward</div><div class="s18">• Adaptive - you manage each engineer as an individual, adjusting for capacity, style, and timezone</div>Your LocationThis position is remote eligible for candidates based in the United States area.
