We’re seeking a Director of Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting to lead SEC filings and technical accounting during a period of rapid growth. This high-impact role will partner with leadership across Finance, Legal, and Investor Relations and be crucial in building and managing a team of technical accountants and SEC reporting professionals.
Hybrid role based at our Century City, CA HQ — join us in the office two days a week (Monday–Wednesday) and enjoy flexibility/WFH the rest of week.
SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting
Lead preparation and filing of 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other SEC documents
Draft and review MD&A, footnotes, and technical memos (e.g., M&A, leases, stock comp, revenue recognition)
Oversee technical accounting research, policy development, and new pronouncement implementation
Interface with external auditors and internal leadership to manage quarterly/year-end close and audits
Maintain and evolve corporate accounting policies and SOX-compliant documentation
Conducts in-depth research on complex accounting issues, interprets accounting standards (US GAAP, IFRS), and documents conclusions in accounting position papers.
Provides technical accounting guidance and support to international finance teams, ensuring consistent application of accounting policies and procedures across all global operations.
Leadership & Strategy
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing accounting team
Drive continuous process improvement, automation, and scalability
Stay current on accounting, SEC, and SOX regulations; act as a key advisor to finance leadership
Support Audit Committee and quarterly reporting cadence
Minimum Qualifications
CPA with Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 audit and in-house roles
6+ years managing SEC reporting or technical accounting teams
Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, revenue recognition, M&A, debt/equity financing, long-lived assets, etc., and SOX compliance
Strong writing and analytical skills with the ability to simplify complex accounting concepts
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance · Life sciences or health & wellness industry experience
Experience leading IPO/S-1 readiness efforts
ERP implementation experience (Oracle Fusion preferred)
Familiarity with Workiva, OneStream, and automation tools
Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional initiatives
