This senior leadership role is responsible for driving software development and product strategy for mission-critical technology solutions. You will manage a technical team, oversee product development and delivery, and ensure operational excellence across specialized software platforms. This position requires both strategic vision and hands-on technical expertise, guiding software architecture, development processes, and release management. You will collaborate cross-functionally with business, engineering, and customer teams to meet market demands and deliver high-quality solutions. Your leadership will influence product innovation, customer satisfaction, and overall organizational success. This role offers the opportunity to shape development practices, mentor technical staff, and contribute to long-term product strategy in a highly specialized industry.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and manage a small team of technical developers, including performance reviews, development planning, and task assignment.
  • Oversee all development activities, including bug fixes, enhancements, regression testing, and major software releases.
  • Maintain internal development infrastructure, including source code management, build systems, and testing environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align software development with product strategy and business objectives.
  • Monitor product quality and operational performance, ensuring timely identification and resolution of issues.
  • Engage with industry stakeholders to identify market opportunities and support business development initiatives.
  • Support customer engagement, technical inquiries, pre-sales activities, and product-related training or documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional software development experience, with leadership in defense-related or highly specialized software solutions.
  • Proven experience in software architecture, product/project management, and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in Java, C, and C++; experience with Linux systems (RedHat, Ubuntu, Rocky) and embedded systems programming.
  • Knowledge of compilers, concurrency algorithms, ARM/x86 architectures, and relevant development tools (e.g., Docker, GNU Make, Ant, Subversion).
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills to manage teams and engage with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Preferred: experience with embedded real-time systems, defense industry software, or highly regulated technical environments.
