This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the successful execution of complex drug development programs within a fast-paced, science-driven biopharmaceutical environment. You will act as a key strategic partner to program leadership, translating development strategy into fully integrated, executable plans across discovery, clinical, and regulatory stages. The role requires strong cross-functional leadership across highly matrixed teams, ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely delivery of critical milestones. You will own program planning, governance, and reporting while proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and strategic tradeoffs. This position also plays a key role in shaping decision-making at the executive level by providing clear, data-driven insights into program performance. In addition to program delivery, you will contribute to strengthening program management practices and mentoring emerging talent within the organization.
Accountabilities:- Lead end-to-end program management for one or more drug development programs, ensuring cross-functional alignment and execution across clinical, regulatory, CMC, and scientific teams.
- Partner closely with program leadership to translate strategy into integrated operational plans, identifying priorities, dependencies, and execution pathways.
- Own and maintain integrated program plans, critical paths, timelines, and scenario analyses to support milestone delivery and decision-making.
- Facilitate governance forums, core team meetings, and executive reviews, ensuring clarity of actions, decisions, and accountability.
- Proactively identify risks, issues, and interdependencies, driving mitigation strategies and escalation where necessary.
- Develop and maintain executive-level reporting dashboards covering program status, progress, risks, and key decisions.
- Support continuous improvement of program management processes, tools, and best practices across the organization, including mentoring junior staff.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline; advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD, PharmD) strongly preferred.
- 12+ years of experience in biotech or pharmaceutical environments, including 7+ years in program or project management within drug development.
- Strong experience managing cross-functional, matrixed teams across clinical-stage programs; oncology experience is a plus.
- Deep understanding of drug development processes, including clinical operations, regulatory pathways, and CMC functions.
- Proven ability to manage complex timelines, critical paths, risks, and governance structures in a highly regulated environment.
- Strong leadership and influence skills, with the ability to drive alignment across senior stakeholders without direct authority.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience delivering executive-ready updates and strategic insights.
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Planisware, Smartsheet, MS Office, SharePoint).
- PMP or similar certification is a plus.
