In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee the engineering vision and execution for critical order and checkout experiences within a high-scale digital platform. You’ll lead a sizable, high-performing team responsible for systems that directly impact millions of users and billions in transaction volume. The position blends technical depth, organizational leadership, and cross-functional collaboration, requiring you to balance innovation with operational excellence. You will shape the roadmap for complex, revenue-critical systems while driving performance, scalability, and reliability. Accountabilities:- Lead and scale an engineering organization of 20+ engineers, including hiring, mentoring, and developing managers and senior contributors
- Own the strategy, architecture, and multi-quarter roadmap for order experience systems, including checkout, payments, and order management
- Manage high-volume cross-functional intake, prioritizing requests from multiple partner teams while ensuring clarity on trade-offs and delivery timelines
- Drive technical excellence across backend, web, and mobile systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security at scale
- Establish strong operational practices, including OKRs, incident response, on-call processes, and post-mortems to ensure reliability and continuous improvement
- Partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, and Operations to deliver end-to-end solutions and optimize key business metrics
- Champion architectural evolution, reducing technical debt and enabling scalable, extensible platform capabilities
Requirements:
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing teams and at least 2+ years leading managers or large engineering organizations
- Proven experience managing platform or infrastructure teams that serve multiple stakeholders in high-growth, high-demand environments
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, high-throughput architectures, and transaction-based platforms
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with a track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams
- Expertise in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management across technical and non-technical teams
- Experience driving system modernization, improving scalability, and enabling self-service architectures
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills in complex environments
- Familiarity with e-commerce, payments, or checkout systems, as well as modern web/mobile technologies, is a strong advantage
