This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of M&A + Corporate Initiatives based in the United States.

This executive role will drive growth strategy by leading acquisition initiatives and high-impact corporate programs.
The position combines strategic thinking, M&A execution, and operational leadership to accelerate business expansion.

Accountabilities:

The Director of M&A + Corporate Initiatives will be responsible for advancing inorganic growth through acquisitions while managing strategic initiatives that support business transformation and expansion. This role will partner with executive leadership to evaluate opportunities, execute strategic projects, and establish repeatable processes that drive sustainable growth.

  • Lead M&A strategy and execution activities, including market research, opportunity identification, pipeline development, due diligence, and transaction management.
  • Develop market maps and acquisition theses across targeted industries and emerging business areas.
  • Evaluate potential acquisition opportunities by analyzing market dynamics, strategic fit, financial potential, and operational considerations.
  • Manage the full M&A lifecycle, from sourcing and initial evaluation through diligence, negotiations, closing, and integration planning.
  • Coordinate leadership reviews, diligence activities, and key deliverables with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Represent the organization at industry events and conferences to build relationships and identify strategic opportunities.
  • Develop and improve M&A execution processes, frameworks, and best practices to support future growth initiatives.
  • Lead post-acquisition integration efforts, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure successful transitions and value creation.
  • Build integration playbooks and operating frameworks that support different acquisition models, including standalone businesses, acquisitions integrated into existing operations, and new market entries.
  • Manage strategic corporate initiatives focused on transformation, operational improvement, technology investments, and new revenue opportunities.
  • Partner with executive sponsors to develop business cases, financial objectives, project plans, milestones, and success metrics.
  • Provide ongoing reporting and updates to leadership teams on initiative progress, risks, and business impact.
  • Support the development of new growth platforms and expansion into adjacent markets.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and enterprise-level initiative management. They should be comfortable operating with senior executives, managing complex projects, and translating strategic opportunities into actionable plans.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Significant experience in M&A, corporate development, strategy consulting, investment banking, private equity, or similar strategic roles.
  • Proven experience managing acquisition processes, including market research, valuation, diligence, negotiations, and integration planning.
  • Strong understanding of software, technology, or related high-growth business environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build acquisition pipelines and identify strategic growth opportunities.
  • Experience leading cross-functional transformation initiatives with measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to develop business cases and evaluate investment opportunities.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong executive communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate independently in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical capabilities and a hands-on approach to execution.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.

  • Competitive base salary range of $112,500–$137,500 annually, depending on experience, expertise, and location.
