This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Engineering - Core Product in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a high-impact engineering organization at the center of an AI-driven platform transforming decision-making in the insurance industry. You will define the technical vision, architecture, and execution strategy for a core product that powers intelligent underwriting workflows at scale. Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional partners, you will shape how complex systems are designed, built, and evolved in a fast-moving, innovation-driven environment. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both deep technical expertise and strong organizational leadership. You will play a key role in building scalable infrastructure, driving engineering excellence, and ensuring product delivery directly translates into measurable customer and business impact. The environment is highly collaborative, globally distributed, and focused on solving complex, real-world problems using AI and modern cloud technologies.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the technical strategy and architectural roadmap for the core product, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead and grow a high-performing engineering organization, including managing senior engineers and engineering managers while fostering a strong culture of ownership and execution.
  • Define engineering standards, frameworks, and operational practices to ensure consistency, quality, and velocity across teams.
  • Partner closely with product, design, and executive leadership to translate product vision into technical execution and delivery.
  • Drive end-to-end delivery of complex, large-scale engineering initiatives spanning full-stack systems, distributed infrastructure, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Establish metrics-driven engineering practices, improving observability, performance, and operational excellence across the platform.
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent while building a culture of experimentation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

This role requires extensive experience in software engineering leadership, ideally within fast-growing, product-driven organizations. Candidates should bring strong technical depth in system architecture, distributed systems, and scalable cloud infrastructure, combined with proven ability to lead high-impact engineering teams.

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in engineering leadership roles managing teams and managers.
  • Strong background in full-stack engineering and deep expertise in system design and scalable architectures.
  • Proven track record of leading complex, large-scale engineering initiatives in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and modern platforms, including serverless and distributed systems (e.g., AWS, asynchronous workflows).
  • Strong ability to align engineering strategy with business outcomes and product vision.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and recruiting skills with the ability to attract and develop top-tier engineering talent.
  • Experience in metrics-driven environments with a strong focus on operational excellence and delivery quality.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, high-growth environments with a strong bias toward experimentation and iteration.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with significant equity package
  • 401(k) plan with employer match
  • Comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, vision) for individuals and families, fully covered
  • 20 days of PTO annually plus additional perks and company-wide offsites
  • Global team offsites and in-person gatherings across international locations
  • Wellness benefits including gym and mobile phone stipends
  • Continuing education support and learning opportunities
  • Opportunity to work on high-impact AI systems transforming a multi-trillion-dollar industry
  • Collaborative, global, and high-performance engineering culture.
