This role provides a unique opportunity to lead and scale engineering teams building innovative AI-driven software solutions for the dental industry. You will oversee multiple distributed teams, guiding product and technical strategy while fostering a high-performing, collaborative engineering culture. The position combines hands-on technical leadership with organizational planning, mentoring, and operational management. Accountabilities

As the Director of Engineering, you will:

  • Lead and scale high-performing engineering teams across multiple locations, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment with business goals.
  • Define and implement engineering best practices, technical standards, and architectural vision for both short-term and long-term initiatives.
  • Drive organizational planning, capacity forecasting, and engineering operations to support strategic objectives.
  • Maintain technical credibility by contributing to the codebase and participating in architectural reviews when needed.
  • Foster a collaborative, agile engineering culture that balances innovation with operational excellence.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership and stakeholders, advocating for team needs and aligning technical direction with company goals.
  • Mentor engineers and support professional growth to maximize team impact and performance.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience developing software solutions.
  • 5+ years of management experience, with a proven track record of building and scaling engineering organizations of 15+ engineers across multiple teams.
  • Experience with 0-1 product development and scaling mature platforms.
  • Hands-on expertise in full-stack development, including front-end and back-end technologies, software architecture, and design patterns.
  • Knowledge of SaaS architecture, cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud), CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices.
  • Familiarity with Java, Python, JavaScript, Docker, Kubernetes, RESTful APIs, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Strong mentorship skills and ability to cultivate a high-performing engineering culture in an iterative, agile environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize, make strategic decisions, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
