This leadership role sits at the intersection of design strategy, project execution, and organizational leadership within a complex, multidisciplinary environment. You will guide design and consulting teams while ensuring successful delivery of large-scale, technically complex projects. The role combines strategic planning, financial oversight, and people leadership, with a strong focus on aligning design outcomes with business objectives. You will also contribute to business development efforts and help shape long-term design and operational strategies. Acting as both a leader and advisor, you will influence project direction, team performance, and organizational change initiatives. Accountabilities:- Lead multidisciplinary design and consulting teams, ensuring effective execution of complex projects and alignment with project design leadership standards.
- Oversee project planning, staffing coordination, and resource allocation, ensuring optimal utilization across teams and business units.
- Support business unit leadership in forecasting workloads, managing assignments, and balancing capacity across active projects.
- Contribute to financial planning by assisting in budget development, monitoring utilization, and tracking expenses against targets.
- Participate in organizational change management, including communication planning and implementation of structural or operational updates.
- Support development and execution of strategic initiatives related to design and consulting operations.
- Conduct performance evaluations, support career development, and foster team engagement and retention.
- Participate in development and refinement of internal policies, procedures, and operational best practices.
- Contribute to business development activities, leveraging design expertise to support market growth.
- Travel up to 30% as required to support project and leadership responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related design discipline preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in design leadership roles, including independent project leadership and design management responsibilities.
- Strong experience managing large, multidisciplinary projects involving engineering and technical teams.
- Professional registration or eligibility for registration preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Strong expertise in project management including budgeting, scheduling, staffing, forecasting, proposal development, and change management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and design/documentation software.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and team management skills.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.
