About the role
The role is the single leader accountable for how Shipium creates, captures, and scales market demand across our Shipium is looking for a Director, Demand Generation to be the single leader accountable for how we create, capture, and scale market demand across our enterprise segments — owning the strategic design, budget allocation, and marketing-sourced pipeline targets that define our category. This role moves beyond manual task execution: you'll build an automated, highly efficient demand generation infrastructure using Claude as a core component of daily operations, driving deep analytical thinking, scaling account personalization across the full buying committee, and automating routine reporting. You'll maintain absolute ownership over quality, brand voice, and strategic alignment, ensuring human judgment and accountability govern every AI-accelerated output.
This role carries direct people-management responsibility for the demand generation team, with dotted-line mentoring accountability for the SDR team.
What you'll do
Strategy & Pipeline Ownership
- Own the demand strategy: define, lead, and execute the annual and quarterly demand generation strategy to predictably hit revenue targets across all target Ideal Customer Profiles.
- Carry the pipeline number: hold full accountability for marketing-sourced and marketing-influenced pipeline, and manage the demand budget end-to-end to maximize ROI and cost-per-outcome efficiency (CPL, CAC).
- Report to leadership: develop and deliver defensible, board-ready performance readouts and funnel analytics for executive leadership.
- AI-First Demand Engine
- Architect with AI: build an AI-first demand engine, modeling advanced proficiency in Claude to transform content operations and produce persona- and stage-specific assets at scale.
- Own AI visibility: own Shipium's presence across modern AI answer engines and generative search (AEO/GEO) alongside traditional organic SEO.
- Automate the team's workflow: identify, document, and implement at least one major workflow automation or dashboard optimization per cycle, establishing an AI-first default for data synthesis and market research.
- Shift the team's focus: move the team from tactical execution to strategic priority management, instilling the mandate that human accountability stays with the team while execution moves to AI.
- Channel & Program Execution
- Run the channel mix: direct high-performing programs across paid media (LinkedIn, Google, retargeting), lifecycle email, web, and events.
- Partner with Sales on ABM: co-own enterprise account-based marketing on named accounts with Sales leadership, establish rigid lead hand-off SLAs, and turn intent signals into prioritized outbound plays.
- Own the marketing stack: oversee optimization of marketing automation systems (HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot) and Salesforce, directly and via operations support, ensuring predictive lead scoring and clean data quality.
- Team Leadership & Culture
- Coach and scale the team: coach, mentor, and scale individual contributors and agency partners, driving and documenting measurable productivity improvements attributable to AI tool adoption.
- Hold the quality bar: hold an unyielding bar on brand voice, strategic alignment, and factual accuracy, exercising precise judgment to evaluate and refine AI-generated drafts and code before they go to market.
- Manage performance: manage team performance metrics, drive cross-functional collaboration with Marketing and Customer Success, and grow the team's collective AI adoption and fluency over time.
- Lead your people: participate in hiring, run 1:1 coaching sessions, set goals and expectations for individual contributors, and handle performance reviews, personnel issues, and disciplinary action when required.
- Build a great team: mentor, guide, and enable individual contributors to succeed, build a sense of importance and belonging, and advocate for your team.
- Champion the culture: lead a positive work environment by modeling cultural expectations and influencing others to reward accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, and creativity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- 8–12+ years of progressive B2B marketing experience, with a minimum of 4–5+ years directly leading demand generation or growth marketing functions.
- A proven track record of building or scaling a demand engine at a high-growth B2B SaaS company while owning and hitting a marketing-sourced pipeline target.
- Demonstrated experience using AI in real, production-level marketing environments with measurable velocity outcomes.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
