Position Summary:

 

The Director of Business Development plays a pivotal role in driving growth and expanding Rovia’s client base within the clinical research industry, responsible for forging strategic partnerships, identifying new business opportunities, servicing existing relationships, and promoting the organization’s capabilities across multiple therapeutic areas and research phases.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develops account plans and partnerships with key accounts.
  • Utilizes client call cycle to achieve objectives and follow up on leads.
  • Conducts market intelligence through available business development software and networks of internal and external contacts to identify growth opportunities.
  • Sells the sites’ capabilities and differentiation frameworks.
  • Recognizes and communicates sales opportunities for other business units.
  • Maintains frequent personal contact with clients.
  • Leads client presentations.
  • Responsible for opportunity management and pipeline forecasting.
  • Participates in proposal scope development as appropriate.
  • Prospects for new business through activities such as cold calling and participating in conferences.
  • Develops and implements strategies that focus on closing new business.
  • Furthers existing strategies to increase revenue and profitability from existing customers.
  • Uses Devana to manage accounts, opportunities, contacts, and all corresponding activities.
  • Evaluates account performance and holds frequent strategic discussions with cross-functional teams.
  • May perform other job-related duties as requested or required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced clinical research industry knowledge, preferably at the site network level.
  • Demonstrated client retention skills.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in using CRM systems.
  • Ability to formulate business decisions that are financially responsible, accountable, and justifiable.
  • Data-driven and critical thinking skills to continuously improve business strategies.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or life sciences required, Master's degree preferred. 
  • 5+ years of experience selling site, site network, or CRO services directly to the research sector, including direct interaction with mid-level and executive decision-makers.
