Director, Mitratech Catalyst

This role is designed for a hands-on technical leader who thrives at the intersection of innovation, speed, and engineering excellence. You will be responsible for building new software products from the ground up, taking ideas from concept to production in highly accelerated delivery cycles of 8–12 weeks. Operating in a fast-moving, AI-augmented engineering environment, you will architect modern cloud-native solutions while actively coding alongside a small, high-performing team. Beyond delivery, you will also define how these products are transitioned to long-term owning teams, ensuring knowledge transfer, scalability, and operational readiness. This position plays a critical role in demonstrating how AI-driven development practices can dramatically accelerate time-to-value while maintaining production-grade quality. It is a highly visible role that blends hands-on engineering, architectural leadership, and organizational enablement.

Accountabilities:

You will lead end-to-end development of new applications, owning architecture, implementation, and delivery of production-ready software within compressed cycles. You will also ensure smooth transition of these systems to long-term engineering teams while embedding scalable AI-native development practices.

Lead 0→1 product development from concept through production release in 8–12 week cycles
Design system architecture and make build-vs-buy decisions aligned with scalability and speed
Write production-grade code alongside a small, high-velocity engineering squad
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, and delivery workflows
Build cloud-native, secure, and scalable systems using AWS, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code practices
Create structured handoff plans and documentation for seamless team transitions
Train and enable receiving engineering teams on systems, tools, and AI-augmented practices
Define and refine repeatable delivery playbooks for rapid product development lifecycles
Collaborate with product, design, and engineering leadership to identify high-impact opportunities
Contribute to engineering standards, governance, and AI usage policies

Requirements:

You are an experienced software engineering leader with strong hands-on technical depth and a proven ability to build and ship products from scratch in fast-paced environments. You combine architectural thinking with practical execution and are comfortable leading through influence rather than hierarchy.

10+ years of software engineering experience with production-scale systems
Proven track record of delivering 0→1 products from inception to live production
Strong expertise in full-stack, cloud-native architectures (AWS, CI/CD, containers, IaC)
Deep experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows
Strong coding ability and willingness to remain hands-on in development work
Experience mentoring engineers and shaping engineering practices and culture
Ability to document, transfer, and operationalize complex systems for other teams
Experience in fast-paced, startup-like, or innovation-driven environments
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred: experience in SaaS, regulated industries, or platform/innovation lab environments
