This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director, Finance/Global Controller, Warehouses & Distribution in the United States.
This is a high-impact finance leadership role at the intersection of operations, supply chain, and advanced analytics. The position is responsible for driving financial transparency and performance insight across large-scale warehouse and distribution networks while strengthening global financial controls. It combines operational finance leadership with strategic partnership, supporting decisions that directly influence productivity, cost efficiency, and capital allocation. The role requires deep expertise in logistics environments, strong analytical capability, and the ability to translate complex operational data into actionable financial insights. Working closely with senior operations and finance leaders, this position plays a key role in shaping distribution strategy and enabling data-driven transformation. It also involves leading advanced reporting and modeling capabilities, including automation and dashboard development for real-time decision-making.
Accountabilities:- Own financial oversight of warehouse and distribution operations, including full P&L management, cost structure analysis, forecasting, and variance reporting, while ensuring strong financial controls and compliance with accounting standards.
- Develop and maintain advanced unit economics and activity-based costing models, distinguishing fixed vs. variable fulfillment costs and improving cost transparency across the distribution network.
- Lead financial evaluation of warehouse transformation initiatives and capital investments, including ROI, ROIC, payback analysis, and post-investment performance tracking against approved business cases.
- Serve as finance lead for core operational systems (including WMS and SAP), ensuring accurate data flow, system integrity, and alignment with financial reporting requirements.
- Build and manage Power BI dashboards and advanced analytics frameworks to deliver real-time financial and operational insights, enabling better decision-making across leadership teams.
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, IT, and finance leadership to support network strategy, capacity planning, scenario modeling, and continuous operational improvement.
Requirements
- 8–12+ years of experience in controllership, operational finance, or equivalent roles within warehouse, distribution, logistics, or supply chain environments, ideally with global and multi-site exposure.
- Strong expertise in unit economics, activity-based costing, financial modeling, and large-scale operational finance analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI and data analytics tools, with experience building dashboards, scenario models, and decision-support systems.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial close processes, and enterprise financial governance frameworks.
- Experience working with logistics and ERP systems such as SAP, Blue Yonder, StepLogic, or similar platforms.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and translate technical operational data into clear financial insights.
