This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Ardelyx. We are currently looking for a Director Field Medical Affairs, Nephrology in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead and manage a high-performing field medical team focused on nephrology. You will drive the execution of medical strategies, facilitate high-quality scientific communications, and ensure team alignment with organizational objectives. The position requires a strategic, results-oriented leader capable of mentoring and guiding field medical staff while engaging key stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and decision-makers. You will gather actionable insights about clinical practice, treatment landscapes, and emerging scientific data to influence both internal strategy and external interactions. This role blends leadership, clinical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, compliant environment. Travel and engagement with the medical community will be a key component of the position.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and manage a field-based medical team, holding each member accountable for achieving individual and organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans to guide Medical Affairs activities and objectives.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and coaching to Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) on product knowledge, disease state expertise, customer targeting, and territory management.
  • Evaluate and contribute to key organizational decisions such as team expansions, role changes, and resource allocations.
  • Foster a culture of compliance, ensuring all field medical activities adhere to laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Engage with key customers, decision-makers, and influencers to represent the organization in a leadership capacity.
  • Monitor team performance, address issues promptly, and provide feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • PhD or PharmD with 7-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, including at least 6 years of field medical experience.
  • 4 years of field management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of nephrology or related therapeutic areas is advantageous.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence, integrate cross-functional teams, and drive results.
  • Strong clinical acumen and interpersonal skills to build trust with internal and external collaborators.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical regulations, compliance policies, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated track record of effective territory management and achievement of key performance indicators.
  • Ability to travel >50% of the time, including for field visits, medical congresses, and business meetings.
