Position Description
United seeks a Director to lead our engagement in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) stakeholder processes. This role involves setting strategies, following developments in the stakeholder process, building relationships with RTO staff and other stakeholders, and advocating for reforms to remove barriers and expand opportunities for advanced energy technologies to compete in these markets.
The Director will report to the Managing Director – Wholesale Markets, and will supervise one Senior Principal supporting United’s work in MISO/SPP. The Director will be part of United’s Expanding Wholesale Markets team, and will also work closely with United’s state regulatory and legislative staff.
This role requires solutions-oriented, forward-looking thinking, and the ability to both dive into detailed regulatory issues and zoom out to respond to big-picture themes and trends. A successful candidate will be both technically capable and excited about the relationship-building aspects of the work.

Location: Remote - Must reside in the U.S., with preference for residence in a state within the MISO/SPP footprint (Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin)
Start date: June 2026
Salary: Starting at $120,000
