A day in the life:
The Director, Commercial Excellence and Acceleration will help manage and drive commercial and business excellence for the sales organization by designing, planning, and implementing commercial processes, best practices, projects and initiatives to maximize top-line and bottom-line results. The role will work to apply efficient action-oriented and innovative recommendations to drive sales performance and enhance sales leadership skills and abilities. S/he will actively work to improve processes through analysis and make recommendations around business execution, as well as partnering with the sales operations/analytics on tracking the performance of commercial operations. The Director must lead with honesty and integrity and possess unwavering business ethics.
This position will report to the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and work collaboratively and cross-functionally with CVRx Commercial Leadership, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, etc. S/he will lead the planning and execution of several key strategic and tactical Commercial Excellence & Training functions and initiatives including:
- Partnering with sales leadership and sales operations/analytics to track performance / management (KPIs, metrics, etc.).
- Partnering with CRO and Sales Operations and Analytics leader to design, execute (i.e. payout, exception, performance analytics) and improve continuously via benchmarking internally/externally.
- Develop sales training and sales force effectiveness program to build world class capabilities in territory / account planning, pipeline management, negotiation skills, needs discovery, presentation and message delivery, and objection handling.
- Partnering with Marketing and Sales Training to drive excellence in the sale organization ability to increase awareness and adoption of Barostim.
- Partnering with IT and Sales Operations and Data Analytics leader on the effective monitoring and refinement of data utilization, data management, and standardization of CRM / Salesforce and other commercial technology platforms.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify key commercial excellence initiatives to improve commercial effectiveness.
- Contribute to sales and marketing strategic decisions and play a critical role in designing and monitoring commercial approach and results.
- In partnership with CRO, set KPIs and performance management process, deliver reliable and timely insights, assess sales effectiveness and productivity, identify drivers per data analytics, and develop recommendations for improvement.
- Distill insights from sales performance data analytics, drive for action or cross-correction.
- Provide strategic leadership and develop training to drive the development, implementation, standardization, and ongoing maintenance and improvement of best-in-class sales process and effective training programs and materials, aligned with business needs and evolving market dynamics.
- Drive continuous training to optimize the use of all marketing programs, campaigns, resources and messages, and Barostim specific sales training. Provide feedback on opportunities to create or improve content to support these efforts
- Develop framework, guiding principles, analytics and reporting systems to enhance the sales process and pipeline management, while maximizing the usage of CRM / Salesforce system to support call planning, account views, new business forecasts, etc.
- Design and strengthen CRM solutions to support critical business functions and accelerate business growth, partner with appropriate leaders to educate broader sales teams and to maximize utilization of CRM in an efficient way.
- Co-Own the governance and management of data used for reporting, responsible for ensuring data accuracy and completeness in partnership with IT and the Sales Operations and Analytics leader.
- Partner with CRO and Sales Operations and Data Analytics leader on technology platform and data projects, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. Area Commercial, IT, Global Demand Management).
- Stay current on market trends and industry "best practices", drive internal and external best practices and act as a Global Center of Excellence for commercial excellence, best practices and consultancy.
Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor鈥檚 Degree in a relevant field or a combination of education and experience will be equally considered in lieu of degree.
- Ten years of relevant work experience in commercial roles, including sales, marketing, and/or commercial operations, or a successful combination of two or more areas.
- A minimum of five years of experience leading high-performing commercial sales teams in the medical device industry.
- Demonstrable financial acumen and analytical capabilities for complex analysis.
- Proven problem-solving skills with ability to exercise independent judgement in developing a structured approach and driving to resolution.
- Excellent communicator with interpersonal skills; skillful in written and verbal communication with the ability to present materials to various audiences, specifically as a trainer.
- Highly proficient in Salesforce CRM as well as various data analytics and reporting tools.
- Demonstrable project management skills and ability to balance competing priorities.
- Appropriate level of leadership experience to lead and influence both with and without direct authority; ability to manage conflicts effectively to drive alignment, execution, and gain results.
- Excellent collaboration skills; able to navigate complex relationships within the Commercial organization.
- Able to manage, lead, and develop individuals of varying levels of skill.
- Able to motivate and lead a team of diverse individuals, with varying competencies and experience levels, to drive the execution of critical strategies and programs across our growing organization.
- Required to travel up to 50% inclusive of overnight travel by air or car.
PREFERRED:
- MBA or advanced degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with the flexibility to change course as needed.
- Five or more years in the heart failure (HF) space; disruptive technologies experience is highly preferred.
- Startup or growth stage experience is highly preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) training and certification.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIRED PHYSICAL EFFORT
- This position will require interfacing with multiple internal departments and client contacts.
- Ability to travel up to 50%, inclusive of overnight travel by air or car.
- Must meet all hospital credentialing requirements.
- Must have a valid driver鈥檚 license.
- May be required to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus and other diseases.
