Hi, we're The Browser Company đź‘‹ and we're building a better way to use the internet.

Browsers are unique in that they are one of the only pieces of software that you share with your parents as well as your kids. Which makes sense, they're our doorway to the most important things — through them we socialize with loved ones, work on our passion projects, and explore our curiosities. But on their own, they don’t actually do a whole lot, they’re kind of just there. They don’t help us organize our messy lives or make it easier to compose our ideas. We believe that the browser could do so much more — it can empower and support the amazing things we do on the internet. That’s why we’re building one: a browser that can help us grow, create, and stay curious.

To accomplish this lofty task, we’re building a diverse team of people from different backgrounds and experiences. This isn’t optional, it’s crucial to our mission, as we need a wide range of perspectives to challenge our assumptions and shape our browser through a bold, creative lens. With that in mind, we especially encourage women, people of color, and others from historically marginalized groups to apply.

About The Role

As a Design Engineer at The Browser Company, you’ll help shape how Dia looks and feels, elevating its visual craft and motion system into something distinctive, premium, and emotionally resonant. We’re a cross-functional team that values real-time collaboration and rapid prototyping, so much of your day-to-day will focus on building, iterating, and shipping work to production that deepens people’s connection to Dia, and increases the joy they feel while using it.

Browsers are our doorway to everything online: where we work, learn, and stay connected to the people we love. But on their own, they don’t help us organize the chaos, stay focused on what matters, or unlock new creative possibilities. We believe a browser can do more. It can help people grow, create, and stay curious. That’s why we’re building Dia, a browser that helps people do their best work, and feel more at home on the internet.

Overall you will...

  • Ship end-to-end design for Dia. Crafting prototypes and shipping high-fidelity visual + motion work that defines how AI-first software should look and behave.

  • Own the visual and interface craft of key Dia surfaces, elevating what exists through layout, type, motion, color, spacing, and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Explore novel interaction and motion concepts through rapid prototyping. Share your work early and often, and articulate your intent with clarity.

  • Partner closely with Engineers and Design Engineers to bring ideas from concept to shipped reality. Collaborate with Product Insights, and partners across the company to inform decisions and understand impact.

  • Help shape Dia’s cross-platform design direction. Starting with macOS and expanding to Windows and mobile, to create cohesive, intuitive experiences across every surface.

  • Contribute to team-wide design culture: help evolve our strategy, critique practices, daily drops, and shared norms to continually raise the bar for quality and craft.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years designing, rapid prototyping, and shipping high- craft software iOS or desktop products from 0→1

  • Strong visual craft and systems thinking. You care deeply about clarity, cohesion, and the details that make experiences feel effortless.

  • Experience working in rigorous design environments with tools like Figma, Linear, and Notion, and excitement to prototype with LLMs and shape new AI-powered experiences.

  • Sharp eye for clarity and craft, with a bias for fast, creative experimentation and learning through iteration.

  • Clear communicator and structured thinker who can articulate the “why” behind your design decisions, grounds choices in user insights, embraces open dialogue, and help teams align around shared goals.

  • Our team is based in North American time zones and require that folks have 4+ hours of overlap time with team members in Eastern Time Zone.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Our total compensation for full-time employees includes base salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits. The annual base salary range for this role is $225,000-$310,000 USD. The final offer will depend on your experience, expertise, and interview performance. Our goal is simple: if it feels like the right mutual fit, compensation shouldn’t be the thing that gets in the way. We’ve built a small, talent-dense team who cares deeply about their craft, and we pay competitively in line with current market benchmarks.

  • Benefits: We offer best-in-class benefits (https://go.atlassian.com/perksandbenefits) designed to support you, your family, and your life outside of work. Think big-company perks with startup-style impact, ownership, and ways of working — so you have the space and support to do the best work of your career.

  • Location: We’re a remote-friendly company and can hire in any country where Atlassian has a legal entity. If you live in New York (or want to visit), you’re welcome to work from our office in Williamsburg.

We are a remote-first, distributed team, with the option to work from office in Brooklyn, New York. We strongly support diversity and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
