The Data Center Field Operations Supervisor is a key leader responsible for ensuring operational excellence across data center field operations. This role focuses on maintaining high standards of quality, consistency, and efficiency in managing daily field activities, providing leadership to the technical field team, overseeing contractors, and managing special projects. The supervisor is expected to take a hands-on approach, demonstrate strong leadership, and possess exceptional problem-solving skills.
Scope:Â
Works on complex assignments requiring a high degree of initiative
Requires minimal oversight and reports to a team leader
Directs field team to complete tasks using established guidelines, procedures and policies.
Monitors daily operations of the Data Center field team. Requires full knowledge of the area of functional responsibility
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage day-to-day field operations, ensuring all procedures are executed properly and efficiently
Lead a technical team in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network and server infrastructure in data centers, co-location facilities, and edge sites
Manage resources, develop and implement operational plans, and monitor team performance to ensure organizational objectives are met
Provide leadership and guidance to contractors and field technicians, ensuring quality and consistency across locations
Evaluate operational efficiency and make improvements to optimize staff productivity and workflow
Plan and manage project logistics, including team assignments, travel coordination and budget management
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures, and provide training to the team
Write, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and program policies
Participate in the onboarding of new employees and provide continuous training and development for the field team
Lead and perform, as needed, the installation, decommissioning, and troubleshooting of hardware, including cabinets, servers, storage, network equipment, and cables
Use ticketing systems to provide clear and timely communication with customers and stakeholders
Prepare reports, conduct design reviews, and analyze data to solve operational problems and make informed decisions
Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor program performance and deliver status updates
Fulfill on-call duties on a rotating basis to respond to emergency operational needs
Travel to various locations to support business requirements and oversee field operations

Required Qualifications/Skills:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 7+ years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience leading technical teams, providing mentorship, and ensuring consistent quality across regions
Proficiency in conflict management, de-escalation, and building productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
Expertise in cabling systems (power, copper, fiber) and working knowledge of data center best practices (power phasing, fault tolerance, cable routing, power usage calculation)
Strong understanding of networking components, infrastructure, and computer hardware
Experience with CAT5e, CAT6 copper, multi-mode, and single-mode fiber
Knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and data center infrastructures
Certified to operate material handling equipment ( server lifts, pallet jacks, and forklifts)
Proficiency with standard desktop tools (MS Office, MS Outlook) and the ability to learn new software systems
Must be willing and able to travel up to 75% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:Â
Certifications in Networking, Server/IT infrastructure and Data Center technologies are desiredÂ
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fieldÂ
Experience in ServiceNow Field Service Management for work order management
Physical Demand & Work Environment:
Ability to lift and move equipment weighing at least 50 pounds
Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged sitting or standing, repetitive motion, and office-related tasks
Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time and work in data center environments with physical demands (i.e., equipment installation)
Salary Range
