This role offers the opportunity to lead the design and evolution of a cutting-edge enterprise data ecosystem. You will define the vision and technical roadmap for the organization’s data platform, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives. This position blends strategic planning with hands-on implementation, giving you the ability to influence both architectural standards and day-to-day development practices. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and IT operations teams to embed best practices, optimize pipelines, and drive innovation. Operating in a remote environment, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the organization to leverage data effectively for analytics, reporting, and decision-making. Your expertise will directly shape the organization’s ability to deliver value from its data assets.

Accountabilities:

  • Define and lead the adoption of future-state architecture for the enterprise data platform, including integration, storage, modeling, and analytics layers.
  • Establish and maintain architectural standards, patterns, and frameworks to guide data platform modernization and development.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to implement scalable, maintainable solutions in line with architectural guidelines.
  • Partner with IT operations to plan and support the Azure platform and ensure alignment with data workloads and platform requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Azure data services, including Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric Lakehouse, Event Grid, Function Apps, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Translate business needs into architectural and technical requirements, ensuring practical and strategic alignment.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools or platforms to enhance data ecosystem capabilities.
  • Support troubleshooting of complex data platform issues and provide guidance to development and operations teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise data architecture principles and modern data architectures (e.g., lakehouse, medallion, ELT pipelines).
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Azure data services, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience implementing and governing data platforms, including DevOps practices and data governance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to business stakeholders.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to build trust with engineers, analysts, architects, and IT operations staff.
  • Forward-looking mindset with the ability to drive strategy while remaining hands-on with technical implementation.
