About Onyx Odds

Onyx Odds is a social sports prediction platform shaking up the world of sports. We've experienced tremendous growth in user activity and overwhelmingly positive feedback—and we're just getting started. Backed by millions in venture capital funding, Onyx was founded by a Harvard graduate with experience at Jane Street. Our offices are located in the heart of downtown Manhattan.

The Role

We're looking for a Data Analyst to support our trading and operations functions. You'll work at the intersection of data, sports, and business—analyzing performance, identifying trends, and delivering insights that drive decision-making. This role is ideal for someone who loves digging into data, has a quantitative mindset, and is excited by the fast-paced world of sports prediction.

What You'll Do

Trading Analytics

  • Analyze odds, lines, and market movements to support trading decisions

  • Build and maintain dashboards to monitor trading performance and risk exposure

  • Identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities in sports data

  • Develop models and tools to improve pricing accuracy and efficiency

  • Collaborate with the trading team to refine strategies based on data insights

Operations Analytics

  • Track and report on key operational metrics across the platform

  • Analyze user behavior, transaction flows, and platform performance

  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies and recommend process improvements

  • Support forecasting and capacity planning efforts

  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy across operational systems

Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner with product, engineering, and finance teams to deliver data-driven insights

  • Automate reporting and streamline data pipelines where possible

  • Communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Who You Are

  • Analytically minded. You think in numbers, love solving problems, and can translate data into actionable insights.

  • Interested in sports. You follow games and understand how odds, lines, and predictions work—or you're eager to learn.

  • Detail-oriented. You care about accuracy and take pride in getting things right.

  • A strong communicator. You can explain complex findings in simple terms and tailor your message to different audiences.

  • Proactive and curious. You don't wait to be told what to analyze—you dig in and find the story in the data.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity. You can navigate a fast-moving startup environment and prioritize effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline from a competitive program

  • You must have at least 3 years of experience in a relevant field or work

  • Proficiency in SQL and Excel; experience with Python or R is a plus

  • Strong understanding of statistical concepts and analytical methods

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Visa Sponsorship: We are unable to offer employment visa sponsorship for this position

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in sports predictions, trading, fantasy sports, or prediction markets

  • Background in finance, trading operations, or risk analytics

  • Familiarity with sports data providers and APIs

  • Experience building automated reports or data pipelines

Details

  • Location: FiDi, New York City — in-person or hybrid arrangements available

  • Visa Sponsorship: We are unable to offer employment visa sponsorship for this position
