Job Description

How You’ll Add Value

The CSS Senior Technician is responsible for inventorying irreplaceable biological materials (stored at multiple controlled temperatures), while maintaining appropriate storage conditions. They are accountable for performing all assigned tasks with full attention and accuracy to maintain the integrity of the material and the storage processes.  The CSS Senior Technician will efficiently communicate both with the client manager and scientists to ensure all the customer’s needs are met in an efficient manner.    Additionally, the CSS Senior Technician will continually seek opportunities to improve processes, throughput, and new services.

What You’ll Do

1. Perform all functions methodically and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

2. Adhere to FDA Good Practices (GMP, GTP, GLP, GDP), International Organization of Standards (ISO), College of American Pathologists (CAP) standards and other regulatory requirements as outlined in SOPs.

3. Handle materials in a manner that maintains required temperatures (+30 degrees C to -196 degrees C) per the project definition and SOPs.

4. Follow all safety requirements for working with infectious and non-infectious biological materials,

radioactive materials, chemical compounds, and drug products.

5. Utilize assigned inventory tracking tool, Azenta’s Limfinity inventory management system, or client inventory management system for all sample handling tasks.

6. Ensure chain of custody and audit trails for all activities are proactively maintained.

7. Help the client and scientists manage inventory of consumables and supplies.

8. Assist client and scientist requests, such as sample inventory, receipt, labelling, and shipping.

9. Perform simple laboratory tasks including aliquoting, DNA extraction, media preparation as required by client agreement.

10. Perform or facilitate the creation of client specific SOP’s, Project Definitions, and other customer documents.

11. Maintain client storage environments through preventative maintenance and identification of service failures.  Investigate and report all failures.

12. Proactively manage and drive the resolution of client issues while promoting continuous process improvement.  Assist in developing, implementing, validating, and testing of new processes and equipment.

13.  Initiate communication with the customer contacts to maintain and cultivate relationships and gather intelligence about their needs.

14.  Train staff as needed.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree + 6 months demonstrated proficiency in sample management.
  • OR Associate Degree + 2 years demonstrated proficiency in sample management.
  • OR HS Diploma + 4 years demonstrated proficiency in sample management.
  • Life Science Degree, preferred.
  • GMP/GTP/CLIA experience, preferred.
  • Customer/Client service experience preferred.
  • Have demonstrated ability to talk to customers, managers, technical personnel with credibility.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work across department lines.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to make decisions and judgements based on reasoning.
  • Ability to perform tasks with care, be thorough and checks work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements

  • Reaching, lifting, bending.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Extended periods of standing or sitting.
  • Right- and left-hand finger dexterity.
  • Ability to discern colors or use of color correction glasses.
  • Ability to work with refrigerants (e.g., dry ice and LNâ‚‚) using proper PPE and techniques.

Your Working Conditions: 

  • Employee will be working in an area with potentially infectious materials.  Employee will be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment, enforce and follow Universal Precautions for bloodborne pathogens when working in an area considered to be potentially contaminated.
  • Employee will be working at a client site and is expected to remain professional and courteous while maintaining all Azenta and the client’s expectations.

United States Base Compensation: $26.00 - $32.50

The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure. Final compensation may vary above or below this range depending on factors such as experience, education (including licensure and certifications),  qualifications, performance, and geographic location, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
