About the Role:

The Controller is a leader responsible for financial integrity and continuous improvement within the Finance team. This role ensures compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements while driving process optimization and leveraging technology to enhance team performance.

This role is in a fast-paced, international firm. Reporting directly to the Executive Leadership team, the Controller collaborates closely with Service Line Management Teams to ensure successful financial management across teams and projects.


Primary responsibilities of the Controller include:

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgets, and projections.

        Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, and bank reconciliation functions (foreign and domestic), including the preparation of cash disbursement.

        Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.

        Proactively manage cash flow.

Compliance & External Coordination

  • Maintain compliance with regulations, and guidelines in the geographies in which we operate. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax accountants for annual audits and tax filings.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal reporting requirements.

Process Improvement & Systems Optimization

  • Oversee full implementation and optimization of the financial system for real-time data access and reporting.
  • Develop system controls to ensure data integrity and clear division of responsibilities across the team.
  • Implement project accounting process and group responsibilities.

 

Performance & Metrics

        Monitor progress achieved against targets and provide insight and analysis to support operational decision-making.

        Identify issues and escalate to Service Line Management and Executive Leadership.

        Research and explain variances. Raise concerns or red flags to address issues before they accelerate.

 

Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor team members to enhance technical skills and career progression.
  • Foster a culture of proactive communication and continuous improvement.

        Assist Leadership to improve business processes and reporting, leveraging technology to improve communication and efficiency.

        Require top quality and continuous improvement in the financial control process.

        Manage and improve process for project performance guidelines including budgeting and forecasting, planning, and reporting.

        Manage a team of accountants and Project Accountants ensuring continuous honing of skills and facilitating career path.
