About Wonder Franchises:

We are a growing investment platform focused on acquiring and operating franchisors and franchisee portfolios. Our mission is to identify promising opportunities within the franchising/multi-site sector and drive operational excellence (and growth) across our portfolio companies. We're seeking a driven and experienced Controller to lead our accounting and finance functions, playing a vital role in our continued success.

Overview:

As Controller, you will own all financial functions for Wonder and oversee the financial/accounting departments of our portfolio companies. You'll be a key member of the Wonder team, responsible for minimizing risk, managing the overall budget, and ensuring smooth and accurate reporting at both the Wonder level and portfolio level. This role demands a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles, an ability to see insights in the numbers, and an ability to move seamlessly from the minutia of accounting to the larger vision for Wonder.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wonder HoldCo Level
    • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for internal review and presentation to investors (LPs)
    • Manage accounts payable, expenses, vendor relationships, and internal controls at the HoldCo level.
    • Ensure accurate tax preparation and compliance.
    • Update long-term revenue, profit, and cash flow forecasts.
    • Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
    • Oversee year-end audits at portfolio companies and risk management.
    • Participate in Executive team meetings and provide financial reporting and insights.
  • Portfolio Company Level
    • Oversee all accounting and finance-related activities/departments at portfolio companies.
    • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for each portfolio company for internal review and/or lender compliance (as requested)
    • Develop and refine accounting policies, procedures, and departmental functions.
    • Create and maintain budgets. 
  • Post-Deal Obligations
    • Lead post-close financial responsibilities, including working capital true up, expenses paid from seller accounts / revenue to seller accounts, and purchase price allocation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP. Ideally, with experience overseeing a company change from cash-based accounting to accrual-based. 
  • Previous success with the tactical development and delivery of processes, procedures, and accounting deadlines
  • Team-oriented and hands-on approach.
  • Self-directed, decisive, and dedicated to the big picture.
  • Detailed, attentive, and able to integrate work and life effectively.
  • Strong IQ/EQ with the ability to work cross-functionally and fill gaps.
  • Excellent communication skills.
