We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Construction Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of mission-critical construction projects. This role focuses on managing complex data center builds, including low voltage systems, automation, and controls. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, technical environment, excels at problem-solving, and demonstrates strong leadership and organizational skills. This position offers opportunities for hands-on management, strategic planning, and collaboration across multiple sites and teams, with a potential for travel and relocation for long-term assignments.
Accountabilities:
- Manage end-to-end construction of mission-critical facilities, focusing on low voltage, building automation, and control systems.
- Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Oversee installation and integration of structured cabling, BMS/EPMS, environmental monitoring, access control, CCTV, and fire/life safety systems.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
- Track project progress, manage schedules, resolve issues, and escalate risks as necessary.
- Ensure proper commissioning, testing, and verification of all control systems according to design intent.
- Maintain detailed documentation of construction activities, system testing, and project changes.
- Serve as the liaison between on-site teams and management, providing clear, timely updates and guidance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–10+ years of experience managing construction projects, preferably within mission-critical environments (data centers, healthcare, or pharma).
- Strong expertise in low voltage systems, automation, and control technologies.
- Deep understanding of electrical, mechanical, and IT infrastructure in large-scale facilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple trades and large on-site teams effectively.
- Familiarity with commissioning processes, integration of automation systems, and applicable building codes and safety standards (TIA/EIA, NFPA, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- PMP or other construction/project management certifications are a plus.
- Preferred: experience with hyperscale/colocation data centers, platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Siemens, or Johnson Controls; LEED, BICSI, or NICET certifications.
