Job Description
The Compliance Specialist I will assist in maintaining and enhancing CCMR3’s compliance management program to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and standards across a variety of business areas, including commercial collections, legal collections, and first party services. This position requires a solid understanding of consumer protection laws, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices. The Compliance Specialist I will contribute to compliance initiatives, monitor regulatory changes, perform risk assessments, and support internal auditing and vendor management efforts. This position reports to the Director of Compliance.
Position Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and practices in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and collaborate with the Director of Compliance to develop and implement mitigation strategies.
- Perform internal audits and testing of processes, systems, and communication practices to evaluate the effectiveness of compliance controls and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Monitor daily operations to ensure compliance with relevant laws, including FDCPA, TCPA, FCRA, and CFPB guidelines, identifying and addressing potential risks or violations proactively.
- Assist in managing vendor compliance, including conducting due diligence reviews, ongoing risk assessments, and monitoring to ensure adherence to compliance and security standards.
- Collaborate with the Director of Compliance to review and respond to regulatory updates, industry trends, and client-specific requirements, recommending process enhancements as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, including audit findings, remediation efforts, responses to regulatory inquiries, dispute resolutions, and complaint responses.
- Participate in the investigation and resolution of compliance-related issues such as disputes and complaints, assisting with root cause analysis and corrective action plans.
- Provide support for client audits, regulatory examinations, and other external reviews, as required.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of compliance documentation, including policies, procedures, and reporting metrics.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, law, finance, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field within collections or financial services.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including FDCPA, TCPA, FCRA, and CFPB requirements.
- Experience in risk assessment, vendor management, and internal auditing or testing is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency with technology, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
