In this role, you will be responsible for strengthening second-line compliance oversight by executing structured testing programs across key financial services and fintech operations. You will assess the effectiveness of internal controls, identify regulatory and operational risks, and ensure adherence to applicable laws, bank partner requirements, and internal policies. This position plays a critical role in maintaining governance discipline and supporting sustainable growth in a highly regulated environment. You will collaborate closely with Compliance, Risk, Operations, Product, Legal, and external partners to evaluate control performance and drive remediation efforts. The role requires a strong investigative mindset, analytical rigor, and the ability to translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights. It is ideal for a professional who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments where compliance and customer trust are essential.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and execute second-line compliance and controls testing across key business processes and regulatory obligations.
  • Evaluate design and operational effectiveness of controls linked to regulatory requirements, bank partner obligations, and internal policies.
  • Identify control gaps, compliance risks, and process weaknesses, and develop clear remediation recommendations.
  • Partner cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to validate corrective actions and strengthen control environments.
  • Develop and enhance risk-based testing methodologies, frameworks, and standardized testing scripts.
  • Analyze testing results, identify trends and root causes, and present findings to leadership and governance stakeholders.
  • Monitor remediation activities and validate closure of identified issues and action plans.
  • Contribute to governance initiatives that improve risk visibility, compliance maturity, and operational consistency.
  • Leverage data, reporting tools, and AI-enabled technologies to enhance testing efficiency and issue identification.
  • Promote a strong risk and compliance culture aligned with organizational values and regulatory expectations.

Requirements:

  • 5–7 years of experience in compliance testing, controls testing, internal audit, risk management, or second-line oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks and control testing methodologies in regulated financial services environments.
  • Experience working with bank partner oversight requirements and evaluating operational and compliance controls.
  • Proven ability to identify control weaknesses, assess root causes, and drive remediation accountability.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in fast-paced, high-growth, or evolving environments.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as TILA, UDAAP, FCRA, and CFPB guidance.
  • Experience using data tools, reporting platforms, or GRC systems for testing and issue management.
  • Strong written communication skills with experience producing audit-ready reports and executive summaries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled or automation tools in compliance workflows is a plus.

Benefits:

  • Annual salary range: $92,000 – $125,000 USD.
  • Flexible remote-first work environment with optional access to a New York office.
  • Unlimited paid time off and company holidays.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Generous parental leave and family support policies.
  • Learning and wellness stipends to support professional and personal growth.
  • Equity and incentive opportunities based on performance.
  • Home office and work-life flexibility benefits.
  • Inclusive, values-driven culture focused on growth, ownership, and collaboration.
