About the role
The Disc Golf Pro Tour is seeking a Competition Manager to support the planning and execution of elite-level professional disc golf events across the country. This role is within the Operations team and plays a critical part in ensuring each event meets DGPT standards for competition, logistics, and player experience. The position is a hybrid role, combining remote planning responsibilities with on-site execution at approximately 6–7 events throughout the season. The Competition Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams and Local Organizing Committees (LOCs), lead key aspects of competition preparedness, and contribute to the continued development of DGPT event standards and operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality event experiences.
Essential Duties/ Functions
- Collaborate on the planning and execution of DGPT events and event standards
- Oversee venue development and work closely with LOCs to ensure timelines, standards, and deliverables are met
- Manage key DGPT operational areas, including:
- Operations staff at select events
- Trailers and transportation logistics
- On-course assets, vendor relations, and overall site management
- Lead competition preparedness, including:
- Caddie books
- Course setup and teardown coordination
- Tournament official coordination and deployment
- Own and manage the DGPT Officials Program, including:
- Recruiting, hiring, training, and deploying event officials
- Support and enhance volunteer training related to competition, including:
- Scoring procedures
- Spotting
- Live Statkeeper training
- Administer and oversee tournament registration and player communication, including:
- Tour Cards, ratings-based entry, refunds, and exemptions
- Q-Series and Full Card exemption processes
- Ongoing player communication and support
- Contribute to DGPT rules development in collaboration with PDGA RRAC
- Assist in creating and managing event site maps (Tournament Central, vendors, spectator flow, etc.)
- Coordinate advance planning tasks and manage handoff of key deliverables with venue teams
- Support transportation logistics, including movement of DGPT trucks, trailers, and equipment as needed
- Ensure a high-quality player and spectator experience through thoughtful planning and on-site execution
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree and/or 4+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination)
- Experience with event operations, tournament direction, or large-scale event logistics
- Strong understanding of elite-level competition standards including PDGA rules and competition standards
- Highly organized with strong project management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams
- Strong communication skills (in-person, email, and messaging)
- Professional demeanor when working with players, staff, partners, and vendors
- Ability to work long hours on event days, often outdoors and in varying conditions
- Comfortable with physical demands, including lifting and transporting equipment
- Willingness to travel and support on-site operations for 6–7 events annually
- Experience with Google Workspace, project management tools, and database systems
- Desire to learn, adapt, and contribute as a team player
Preferred:
- Experience as a Tournament Director (A-Tier or higher)
- Experience towing trailers or transporting equipment long distances
- Background in sports event coordination or similar field
