We are seeking a strategic and creative communications professional to lead the design, implementation, and management of comprehensive communication strategies for state-level initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to develop culturally responsive messaging, oversee media relations, and manage digital communication platforms. You will provide thought leadership in early childhood education communications, deliver high-quality content, and ensure engagement strategies align with organizational goals. This position requires strong project management, client-facing expertise, and the ability to analyze and enhance communication effectiveness. Success will be measured by engagement outcomes, quality of deliverables, and the impact of communications on program visibility and reach. Remote work provides flexibility, with travel to Raleigh, North Carolina as needed.


Accountabilities:
  • Lead the implementation of integrated strategic communications plans, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Manage client communications needs, including content creation, graphic design, video resources, press releases, and inter-departmental messaging.
  • Integrate campaign frameworks and messaging across all communication channels and materials.
  • Provide expertise to executive leadership and staff on communications strategies, including culturally responsive approaches.
  • Oversee project management for communications initiatives, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Track and analyze communications effectiveness, recommending improvements and leveraging best practices.
  • Draft, review, and finalize public-facing content, including newsletters, policy briefs, social media content, and announcements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, advisory groups, and vendors to execute communication projects successfully.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience providing communications strategy consulting for federal or state agencies.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, managing, and monitoring communications programs.
  • Strong writing skills with experience creating high-impact state communications documents.
  • Graphics experience and familiarity with digital communication tools such as Constant Contact.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders to achieve communication objectives.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education communications preferred.
  • Client-facing experience including supporting status meetings and providing clear, concise communications.
  • Ability to work remotely and travel to Raleigh, North Carolina as needed.
