To learn more about ZERO TO THREE, please visit our website at zerotothree.org.</p><hr><h2><span style="color: rgb(0, 155, 222);">SUMMARY</span></h2></div><p><strong>ZERO TO THREE is seeking a Communications Intern who is passionate about the power of storytelling to engage diverse audiences and advance social impact.</strong> You’ll contribute to a wide range of projects that support our evolving communications and marketing strategy and will collaborate closely with team members on media relations, social media, editorial content, marketing initiatives, and multimedia storytelling. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment dedicated to improving the lives of babies and toddlers.</p><hr><h2><span style="color: rgb(0, 155, 222);">ESSENTIAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AND EXPERIENCE</span></h2><ul><li>Assist with storytelling and media engagement efforts, including preparing stories, collecting and editing assets and supporting the development of a “Staff Story Series”.&nbsp;</li><li>Provide support for spokesperson engagement by drafting talking points, coordinating logistics and maintaining speaker bios or profiles.</li><li>Participate in the development of internal tools and resources such as spokesperson briefings, digital welcome kits, and basic social media audits.</li><li>Work closely with Communications Managers to write, review and copyedit content for clarity, consistency and alignment with brand voice, including web pages, newsletters, and other external communications.</li><li>Contribute to the creation and editing of multimedia assets (e.g., images, videos, captions) for use across communications channels.</li><li>Collaborate with the Communications team on other duties as assigned.</li></ul><hr><h2><span style="color: rgb(0, 155, 222);">ESSENTIAL SKILLS &amp; EXPERIENCE</span></h2><ul><li>Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with attention to voice, tone and audience.</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media platforms.</li><li>Ability to research, synthesize and present information effectively and clearly.</li><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to deadlines.</li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.</li><li>Familiarity with journalistic ethics and AP Style is a plus.</li><li>Basic knowledge of design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) or multimedia content creation is a bonus.</li></ul><hr><h2><span style="color: rgb(0, 155, 222);">EDUCATION</span></h2><p>Bachelor’s degree (or in final semester of completion) in Writing, Journalism, English, Communications or related field.</p><hr><h2><span style="color: rgb(0, 155, 222);">INTERNSHIP BENEFITS</span></h2><p>During the internship, you will gain:</p><ul><li>Hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, with exposure to storytelling, media relations, and content development.</li><li>Skill-building in writing, copyediting, and message development for a variety of audiences and formats.</li><li>Opportunities to contribute to real-world projects and campaigns that support early childhood development and advocacy.</li><li>Experience using communications tools such as Canva, Google Workspace, and content management systems.</li><li>Mentorship and collaboration with a supportive, mission-driven communications team.</li><li>A deeper understanding of how strategic communications supports organizational goals and amplifies impact.</li></ul><p>This is a paid internship opportunity, with a compensation rate of $17.50 per hour. In addition to gaining valuable hands-on experience, the intern will benefit from professional development, mentorship, and skill-building opportunities. The internship program offers an opportunity to apply academic knowledge in real-world settings while developing skills that support long-term career growth.</p><hr><h2><span style="color: rgb(0, 155, 222);">PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</span></h2><p>While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is frequently required to use finger dexterity and sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. Also, they may need to remain seated for extended periods, can perform repetitive motions, and reach for objects. An employee is frequently required to hold a writing instrument, communicate verbally, and hear well enough to detect nuances and receive detailed information. They may be required to grasp objects, push, and pull objects, bend, stand, walk, squat, or kneel. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision for data preparation or analysis, and expansive reading. Depending on work location, the incumbent will typically work indoors in a heated and air-conditioned office, with a mixture of natural, incandescent, and fluorescent light with low to moderate noise levels or be subject to working conditions conducive to a home environment.
