Headquartered in Utah, Sezzle Bank will operate with a strong focus on consumer lending, compliance, and sustainable growth. As we finalize our senior leadership team, we are seeking a highly qualified Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to build and lead the Bank’s risk and compliance functions from inception.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p><p>Sezzle Bank ILC is seeking an experienced Chief Compliance Officer to establish and maintain an enterprise-wide risk management and compliance framework that aligns with regulatory expectations and the Bank’s strategic goals. The CCO will be responsible for managing all aspects of risk — including credit, market, liquidity, operational, compliance, legal, and technology risks — and for ensuring the Bank’s full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.</p><p> </p><p>A strong background in the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) is required. The ideal candidate will have proven experience overseeing BSA/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) programs in a regulated financial institution, and demonstrated ability to design and operationalize effective risk and compliance programs in coordination with senior leadership and regulators.</p><p> </p><p>This is an on-site role based in Utah.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p><strong>Enterprise Risk Management</strong></p><p> </p><ul><li>Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive second-line risk management framework.</li><li>Identify, assess, monitor, and report on all categories of risk, including credit, liquidity, market, operational (including legal, compliance, and technology), and model risk.</li><li>Define and enforce enterprise-wide risk appetite, risk limits, and escalation procedures.</li><li>Serve as the principal advisor to the CEO and the Board Risk and Compliance Committee on risk matters.</li><li>Identify and evaluate emerging risks, particularly in relation to new products, services, or markets.</li></ul><p><strong>Compliance Oversight</strong></p><ul><li>Supervise the Compliance Officer, who will lead the Bank’s consumer compliance program and serve as the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Officer.</li><li>Ensure adherence to all federal and state compliance regulations, including fair lending, UDAAP, ECOA, HMDA, and more.</li><li>Oversee implementation of complaints handling, compliance training, and monitoring programs.</li><li>Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) Program</li><li>Supervise the BSA Officer, who will be responsible for:</li><li>Developing and maintaining the Bank’s BSA/AML and OFAC policies and procedures.</li><li>Conducting institution-wide BSA/AML/OFAC risk assessments.</li><li>Ensuring operational effectiveness of all controls related to BSA/AML and sanctions compliance.</li><li>Coordinating training, regulatory reporting (e.g., SARs/CTRs), and system monitoring.</li><li>Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the Board and regulators on the health of the BSA/AML/OFAC program.</li></ul><p><strong>Cybersecurity and Technology Risk</strong></p><ul><li>Oversee the Bank’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and ensure the protection of customer data and the integrity of information systems.</li><li>Monitor cybersecurity risk and ensure proper governance and incident response protocols.</li></ul><p><strong>Model Risk and Governance</strong></p><p>Develop and manage a model governance framework, including model risk policies, inventory, validation, and documentation standards.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Regulatory and Audit Engagement</strong></p><ul><li>Serve as the Bank’s primary contact with regulators for all risk and compliance-related matters.</li><li>Prepare for and respond to regulatory examinations and inquiries.</li><li>Support internal and external audit processes and oversee remediation of findings.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Strategic and Operational Leadership</strong></p><ul><li>Ensure risk and compliance frameworks support business strategy and regulatory expectations.</li><li>Develop strong working relationships with business units to provide insight and support on risk and compliance matters.</li><li>Report to and advise the Board Audit / Risk and Compliance Committee, including regular updates on key risk indicators, regulatory changes, and program enhancements.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><p><strong>Required:</strong></p><ul><li>Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Utah (on-site presence required).</li><li>Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial services risk and compliance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.</li><li>Demonstrated expertise in BSA/AML and OFAC compliance, including program management and regulatory interaction.</li><li>Strong knowledge of applicable banking laws and regulations, including FDIC, FRB, FinCEN, and Utah state regulatory frameworks.</li><li>Experience managing or overseeing Compliance Officers, BSA Officers, and information security functions.</li><li>Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with regulators, Board members, and cross-functional leaders.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred:</strong></p><ul><li>Prior experience with a de novo bank, ILC, or fintech-bank hybrid.</li><li>Regulatory background or direct engagement with federal/state examiners.</li><li>Professional certifications such as CRCM, CAMS, or CIA.</li><li>Familiarity with model risk management and validation frameworks.</li></ul><p>
