This role supports care management operations within a leading healthcare environment, ensuring efficient coordination of patient care processes, compliance activities, and discharge planning workflows. You will play a key role in monitoring daily and weekly care management tasks, supporting utilization review activities, and coordinating with financial services and clinical teams. The position is focused on ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant documentation and authorization processes that directly impact patient flow and reimbursement outcomes. Working within a highly structured and mission-driven healthcare system, you will collaborate with case managers, physicians, and administrative teams to improve operational efficiency and patient transitions. This is a detail-oriented role requiring strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a regulated clinical environment. It also offers opportunities to deepen expertise in insurance authorization and care coordination processes.
Accountabilities:- Monitor and support care management workflows to ensure compliance with assigned responsibilities and operational standards
- Conduct utilization reviews including InterQual initial and continued stay assessments and clinical authorization support
- Coordinate with patient financial services and case management teams to ensure proper documentation and authorization processes
- Analyze daily and weekly reports on patient status, discharge planning, and case management performance
- Ensure timely submission and accuracy of clinical and financial documentation in systems such as Allscripts/ECIN and other platforms
- Support 24/7 on-call and weekend coverage coordination as required
- Distribute performance reports and operational data to staff and leadership for follow-up and improvement actions
- Coordinate staff assignments and coverage to meet patient care and operational needs
- Provide training and support on clinical and operational IT systems such as Epic, Invision, and KEPRO
- Maintain compliance with CMS and Medicare regulations and ensure adherence to organizational standards
- Support payroll and administrative reporting processes as needed
- Maintain accurate departmental records and documentation to ensure audit readiness
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of hospital or healthcare care management experience
- Strong knowledge of utilization review processes and healthcare authorization workflows
- Familiarity with tools such as InterQual, ECIN, and KEPRO preferred
- Experience working in clinical documentation systems such as Epic or similar platforms
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across clinical and administrative teams
- Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Ability to analyze operational reports and identify workflow improvement opportunities
- Comfort working in a structured, compliance-driven healthcare setting
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
