Backflip is seeking a Capital Markets Operations Analyst to support our Capital Markets team (Backflip originates real estate investment loans, not consumer loans). As an early hire, this individual will play a critical role in ensuring Backflip has best-in-class Capital Markets functions that are member-friendly, detail-oriented, operationally efficient, and scalable. They will also help ensure Backflip’s culture continues to be reflected in the operation.
We’re looking for someone who possesses strong organizational skills with a passion for processing and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Success in this role requires learning quickly while balancing structure and autonomy. This position reports to the VP of Capital Markets.
This position is remote (U.S.) and a rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor (~60 person team) working directly with senior leaders in a well-capitalized startup with a great culture (Check out our recently announced $15M Series A).
What You’ll Do:
Manage day-to-day warehouse financing activities, including creating daily data tapes and reconciling with our financing partners, communicating with internal closing and underwriting teams to ensure documentation requirements are satisfied, and submitting funding requests for daily loan financing
Collaborate across departments to create and implement operational improvements focused on automation
Manage third-party review of loan collateral
Verify the accuracy of closing documents
Execute the settlement of loan sale transactions
Resolve third-party document conditions promptly and efficiently
Track and resolve loan document conditions; enhance processes around the same
Use Excel, Google Sheets, and other technology to organize and analyze data from multiple sources
Assist with creating recurring and ad-hoc reports for management and investors
Cultivate and nurture relationships with Backflip’s partners and Members
Qualifications:
1-3+ years of direct experience in capital markets operations, loan funding, treasury operations, or a similar role focused on daily financial process management, preferably within the mortgage or real estate finance industry
Prior experience in a relevant role such as Capital Markets Operations Analyst, Loan Funding Analyst, Funding Operations Specialist, Warehouse Lending Analyst, or Treasury Operations Analyst, or similar
Experience in residential real estate investing, fix-and-flip lending, property technology (PropTech), or financial technology (FinTech) is a plus
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, coupled with general tech-savviness and experience using business platforms such as Setpoint (capital markets), HubSpot (CRM), Slack (communication), and Zapier (automation) are a plus
Highly organized, accurate, and detail-oriented with excellent time management and prioritization abilities
Proactive, self-motivated problem-solver with an execution-focused, "one-team" attitude and a strong sense of ownership and accountability
Excellent communicator (written and verbal) adaptable to various audiences and timelines

Compensation for this role includes a base salary of $80,000 plus an annual bonus of $5,000, and is based on a variety of factors including prior experience, geographic location, stock option grant, and other factors, and may fall outside of the stated range for certain candidates. In addition to a competitive market salary, Backflip employees receive equity stock options, paid health care, and a 401K + company match, among other industry-leading benefits.
