Clarify is a remote-first company with 6 hours of overlap on PST. We spend one week a quarter together in person as a team.

About the role

We are hiring for our very first business operations role. You'll join our Operations team, helping to expand the foundations of our internal planning, ops, finance, hr practices. This role is a mixture of operations, growth, marketing, finance, HR, team-building, and project management.

In the role, you will work closely with our founders to build and manage all aspects of keeping Clarify running, from planning off-sites and marketing events, to building complex financial models and preparing for boards and fundraising events.

At the core of the role is execution: you’ll work closely with the co-founders in executing a wide variety of business tasks across the company.

Your background

  • 4-6 years of experience in business operations, growth, sales, revenue operations.

  • Banking, PE, Consulting or other quantitative and financial modeling experience.

  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in learning how a business operates in more nuanced way.

  • Desire and past experience working with engineering teams.

  • An understanding of top of funnel mechanics and experience in improving them through business initiatives.

  • Proven examples using AI in an assistive nature across a wide assortment of operational tasks.

  • Passion for working with engineering to scale business solutions.

  • Familiarity or proficiency with our technology stack: GPT, Slack, Notion, Linear, Excel, Causal, Rippling, Sanity, Kandji.

  • Understanding or experience with CDPs & CRMs including mParticle, Segment, Posthog, Hubspot, and Salesforce.

  • Pragmatic problem solver with a focus on delivering impact.

  • Demonstrated personal and professional maturity as well as executive presence.

  • Experience taking projects from ideation to delivery.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Startup experience or a desire to build or lead a company one day.

  • Understanding or desire to learn basic scripting and programming, including command line and other scripts.

Nice to Haves

  • MBA or equivalent management experience.

  • Comfort in working with AI to solve problems and scale yourself.

  • Workable knowledge of the GTM technology category.

  • Workable understanding of CMS technologies such as Sanity.

  • Ability to rapidly learn new tools.

  • Understanding or interest in learning marketing and revenue technology.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive Strategic Initiatives: You will drive the delivery of key initiatives across the business, from planning new fundraising announcements to driving our offsites.

  • Analytical Firepower: Leverage a quantitative toolset to help model some of the most important aspects of the business from headcount planning, tops down revenue goals, compensation banding, COGS, and more.

  • Support Key Customer Relationships: Work hand in hand with the co-founders to nurture our best customer relationships by capturing feedback, communicating important updates, managing expectations, and providing a world-class, delightful experience.

  • Corporate Communications: Support the marketing function in building and deploying a wide assortment of company and marketing communications, from monthly product updates, to much larger events, like fundraising announcements.

  • Cross Functional Operations: Execute operational tasks across the backbone of the company including HR, Finance, IT, hiring, product, marketing and more in order to assure the day to day cadence of the business stays consistent.

  • Lead cross-functional “run the business” operations: Run finance, data operations, and other functions that form the backbone of the company. This includes important company hearbeats like our weekly all-hands, monthly investor updates, board meeting preparation and customer advisory board events.

  • Executive Relations: Articulate key updates to investors, support the team in quarterly board review, help coordinate the outcomes of key leadership meetings, and generally serve as an extension of the co-founding team in coordinating and delivery both internal and external projects.

Examples Projects

  • Leadership

    • Serve as a voice of the co-founders across all departments helping shape the creation and execution of company plans. You should be very comfortable creating structured plans even when the topic is unfamiliar. Your gift should be driving alignment, unblocking hurdles, keeping trains on time, and delivering outcomes.

    • Establish weekly meetings, execute company announcements, plan all hands, execute necessary company follow ups to ensure the smooth delivery of business.

    • Given the proximity to the leadership team, you are expected to act with confidentiality and maturity across a range of diverse situations.

  • Operations

    • Support the leadership team in all aspects of human capital management and its tools … including hiring, employee management, compensation, performance review, bonuses, etc.

    • Drive our 3x per year offsite process including end to end process for building a plan, communicating options, executing and delivering a high quality experience.

    • Ensure mission critical business documentation across multiple tools is accurate and up to date. Build processes to automate where possible. Suggest opportunities to hire or contract when not.

  • Finance

    • Assist in all aspects of managing the financial suite, including paying bills, updating books, working with our key tax and accounting vendors, collecting W9s, paying taxes, submitting and updating state registrations, fundraising, diligence, and managing employee expenses.

    • Support the executive team and board in drafting exceptionally detailed cost, pricing, and other financial plans and forecasts. Then work to aligning the team to our financial plan.

    • Assist the team in drafting early customer pricing strategy, including managing contracts, invoices, and payables.
